Reports of 🇷🇺 #Russia flagman ship cruiser “Moskva” hit by 🇺🇦 #Ukraine & burning in Black Sea. If true, it would be an excellent (almost) instant karma. It’s the very ship to which 🇺🇦 marines told to go f-ck itself in the first day of the war.

Port of Odesa, UA commandeered at least 10 or more Russian boats/ships. My hope, Ukrainian Scuba Divers sneak into Mariupol and do major damage to the Russians.

Although Soviet/ Russian ships are more vulnerable to fire than US Navy ships.

The Slava (Atlas) class is a large combatant, larger than our Ticonderoga class ships. To sink, or even heavily damage, one would be a major victory.

so it might as well be sunk...Again if it's true...YMMV
If it is true they might want to change the stamp. A sinking ship might be more appropriate.

If it’s out of action it’s the same end result.

If the fire is unchecked, the ship will lost to further deployments. It will take years to get it back into service. Otherwise it will be scrapped.

Let’s hope it’s true.

When the USS Stark was hit and it looked bad

But she was saved and returned to the US under her own power.

Just the propaganda victory of hitting the flagship of the Black Sea Fleet is big. Putting her out of action for a long period would be huge.

If it's dead in the water they can continue to take shots at it and make it a navigational hazard.

And if it was a flagship there would have been some senior staff on board.
I hope they bought the farm.

Skepticism is always appropriate in war. However, it is safe to assume that a major Russian vessel, likely the Mockba, was hit by a Ukrainian missile of some kind and is damaged. That alone is a major victory. It shows very poor planning and defense by the Russians. The Mockba has the ability to detect and defend the entire black sea fleet. To be hit by anything shows serious problems with the Russian naval personnel.

It also shows the Ukrainians have gathered and fortified their defenses on the Black Sea more than has been reported, which is certainly possible and would be a major advantage for Ukraine. (It could also have been very good luck.)

Again, maybe not the Mockba, maybe not a Neptune missile, but still a defensive victory for Ukraine has certainly occurred. A major victory in the sea that is controlled and patrolled by the Russians with a heavy presence and on high alert.

way to know the original tweet. But there are many other sources to determine the verbiage. Plus, I don't think the Russians have a ship called "Neptune" in their whole fleet, much less the black sea. It doesn't fit Russia's naming conventions for military vessels.

The Moskva has six AK-630 point defense cannons. Every two guns have their own radar/optical sighting systems.
They can detect, target, and fire faster than humanly possible.

I suppose it's possible that they all failed simultaneously. But, I think it's more likely that they worked as intended, and the ship was hit with debris from a destroyed missile that started a small fire.
