vote totals, the photo leading at that point will sometimes sways my vote. I know its personal preference but I wonder how other people on DU choose which photo to give their vote. Knowing nothing about art, I recently read an art experts critique on The Mona Lisa and was blown away at everything the experts saw that meant nothing to me.

(42,770 posts)Are looking at these photos on their cell phones. I went to my computer and they looked incredibly different and amazingly better on a big screen.
My biggest question is why are they all different sizes? Seems unfair. Strikes me that a long time ago when I was entering we were told exactly what size to make the pics??

(3,155 posts)Choosing certain aspect ratios, (height and width), can be part of the creative process. Also, many people aren't even aware of which aspect ratio their cameras are set to.

(14,558 posts)For me it was finally between the Romance of a Rose, the Angel, Moon and Bridge...but in the end I had to go with Touched by the Gods - it is such a strikingly beautiful photo.

(14,558 posts)I love clouds anyway, and the way you captured them using the light value and texture was striking, and the rays at the bottom - wow. For me, the umbrella of rays evoked an otherworldly feeling, almost a sacred geometry.
You do good work.

(14,558 posts)of black and white. The texture is a bit more stark in the black and white photo, yes, and the rays show up better.
Ah, but there's something about the color indigo, nestled there in the gaps between clouds. The color photo is more gentle, somehow, more pleasing to the eye.
Thank you for letting me see it!
