General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI saw a video on the State News of Russia and they were very angry with the sinking of battleship.
It looked much like the discussions that can be seen on FOX News. They were loud and threatening.
They wanted the supply lines of US and NATO weapons cut off by Russian forces. They wanted attacks upon Kyiv. They wanted revenge. Some even suggested the use of nuclear weapons.
They were angry and embarrassed that their best battleship was sank. They demanded that Ukraine pay a price.
They were ready for war.
(I do not remember where I saw the video and do not have a link) It may have been on YouTube?

(415 posts)its to just have such a firehose of information, most of it false, that people don't even know what's real at all.

(35,356 posts)The first has a young man pulling on his boots under a tree. He's young and obviously green, a private. At the bottom, it says, "We'll get to Berlin!"
The second has the first poster smaller, in the upper left-hand corner, sketched in. The private is older, has been promoted and has medals on his chest, and the poster says, "We got to Berlin!" "Doshli do Berlina!"
The new stamp should take the old stamp, upper left hand corner, with a Ukrainian soldier thumbs down, facing an empty ocean but for a bit of ship still sticking up, the rest underwater. "Poshel !"

(8,387 posts)As is noted at the end of the video, it has not been confirmed as Ukraine action. Their media says it was a storm, or a fire, or some other nonsense. These people are spreading fake news, lol.

(2,919 posts)Well, not really. Not really a battleship, I mean. "End of service life.". Yeah. Now it's a submarine. Permanently.

(11,744 posts)It was an ammo mishap. No, it was a storm. No, it was planned because the ship reached the end of its operational life. BUT, be angry at the Ukrainians because...? Well, Ukraine says they hit the ship with 2 AS missiles but that isn't true, but still, be angry with them about the ship sinking even though, according to Russian News they had nothing to do with it.
I understand the fog of war, but if the story changes this much, and that is actually coming from state sanctioned sources, that tells you something is not right.
There are two and only two themes here.
1. Russia is incompetent. (Ammo mishap, storm, scuttling the ship)
2. Russia was hit, and is weak. (Ukrainians hit the ship)
Also, I may be wrong here, and I guess other navies do things differently, but typically, when the US navy decommissions a ship, they don't just sink it where it is. They take it to a shipyard, strip off anything they can re-use, then put it in "mothballs". (Anyone feel free to correct me on this). It just doesn't sound plausible that any of this was planned, except for by the Ukrainians.

(2,153 posts)I think the USSR would have had an admiral state, with a straight face, that their ship had been enhanced with submarine capability
