(26,912 posts)From the Underground Railway Theatre featuring Harriet Tubman.. Sanctuary The Spirit of Harriet Tubman. Had it for many years and I still display it. It pains me that too many want to silence this history

(26,525 posts)Stunning.
I'm going to see if I can find a well-done movie or doc on Tubman!
Still awaiting for her to appear on the $20 bill!

(22,582 posts)If I recall correctly, this is the first (and so far only) feature film about Tubman, and it's beautifully done. I can't recommend it highly enough.
There may be a documentary or two out there, too, but definitely give this film a look.

(1,541 posts)I grew up in a very small town an hour away from Cambridge and never once in my school studies during the '50's did I read anything about her (nor about Frederick Douglass who was born nearby). In the '90's a grandson asked me what I knew about her for a school report. Sadly I still didn't know that much so we took a road trip to find out more. Found a small sign on a back road that said the plantation where she was born was probably along this area. Since then though there is lots of information about this incredible woman.
If you are in the area, the Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad State Park and Visitor Center is a must see. The mural is not at the Park, but in the town of Cambridge.

(4,370 posts)But where's the girl? Just check Twitter, and she's definitely in that picture.

(3,581 posts)This is a photo of the entire mural. The one on twitter that has the little girl in the picture shows a larger part of the mural, but not the ENTIRE painting. I posted this to show the artist's complete work, not just a part of it. Hope this helps!

BumRushDaShow
(169,721 posts)I was checking that out myself. The prices seem very reasonable too considering what I have seen charged for prints and related items sold by other artists.

(164,122 posts)That "picture" says far, far more than 1,000 words, by all means. So much more.
The painter has an extraordinary gift. Almost magical.
