Florida Continues Attack On Education After Rejecting 54 Math Textbooks Due To 'CRT'

The Florida Department of Education rejected 41% of submitted textbooks over "attempts to indoctrinate children." The textbooks taught math.

Get these crazy Republicans out of office!

What is going on with these idiots?

What we want is Democratic leaders who can stand up to this sort of thing, instead of working real hard at getting along with them, because they're afraid of what they'll do to their family and welfare. And Democratic leaders that won't fall for the Seduction of Joe Tynan tactics, because money drives everything in this State.

There. I said the quiet part out loud.

With Republicans, I always look to the grift. Maybe this is the reward for the payoff. The state of Florida gives you a fat contract for the books only you publish.

I read that only one textbook company will have the Florida contract now. Nobody in Florida has shown anybody an example of "CRT" in any of the banned books.

It's an excuse to give the contract to a vendor who contributed to DeSantis's campaign.

Billy the sweet white boy has four apples, and Trayvon the equally sweet black boy has 6 apples. How many apples do they have all together?

BOOM! CRT! we all know Trayvon is a thug. Stop grooming our kids.

The Common Core State Standards Initiative, also known as simply Common Core, is an educational initiative from 2010 that details what K–12 students throughout the United States should know in English language arts and mathematics at the conclusion of each school grade. The initiative is sponsored by the National Governors Association and Council of Chief State School Officers.

Because using national standards is un-American? Because ity was established by the Obama administration, and everything Obama did must be torn down?

is a completely different, at least when it comes to math, teaching methodology.

The way that math problems are approached is completely alien to parents which makes helping them with their homework virtually impossible as most parents have never been taught the methodology like this:

And that lack of understanding governs state textbook selection?

Here are the states that repealed the Common Core:
Alabama
Arizona
Florida
Indiana
New Jersey
Oklahoma
South Carolina

Here are the ones that were never a member:
Alaska
Nebraska
Texas
Virginia

I see a pattern here.

It took me all of ten seconds to figure out the counting-up-method of subtraction from the example given.

Although I still prefer the old-timey method, I believe your hypothesis of why common core is controversial to be the real reason why there is an objection.

parents are voters.

If the elected school board members do something that the parents don't like, what do you think is going to happen?

As to your list: it could quite easily be turned and said these states have parents who are actively engaged in the election process but the states not listed just take whatever shit the school board shovels their way and is not actively engaged in the political process.

This question would make heads explode:

Dad #1 is 20 miles from home and travels at 35mph.
Dad #2 is 40 miles from home and travels at 60 mph.

Which Dad leaves 1st and how much later does the other Dad need to leave so that they both arrive how at the same time?
