3. The steel plant at Mariupol is four square miles. It is

impervious to bombing and is defended by some 4000 of the best soldiers in europe. The Russians are afraid to enter it.
If the Ukraine soldiers have food and ammo they can hold out indefinitely. If not I assume they will break out to join with Ukraine forces that are not that far away. The Russians are no match for them

I suspect you're right about the russians being afraid, the command center was eliminated a few days ago and Ukraine forces are advancing in that direction, no more of their ships are getting through the Bosporus and going near shore is dangerous. I hope that Ukraine gets some more supplies and food to these people soon. Another reason for the constant bombardment, to inhibit movement of supplies and relief efforts.

I hope a decisive set of actions will come about soon. Something that will end this without killing the rest of the world.

One would hope such a thing to be complete BS. Never should your fighters all be in one small space as you head toward guerilla warfare. You are saying that the most elite fighters in Europe are in one small place, surrounded by a bombed out city, thinking that the Russians are no match?

Said plant is also loaded with civilians. Horrible situation.

I have also been reading that the Ukrainian soldiers in Mariupol are literally running out of ammunition.
How do you go down fighting when you are out of ammunition?

A tactical retreat may be the best option.
Did you mean to imply that they would be running away entirely by saying they could "escape the city into the night"?
I hope many of them will escape and live to fight another day.
There is no sense in sacrificing their lives unnecessarily when their country needs them to live and continue to fight.
