produce disposed of and how? Pretty sure nobody set up a compost heap. Apart from the econmic ones, are there other consequences for this loss?

(86,791 posts)Used to be some of it could be salvageable, like taking the produce to a canning or processing, like soups and frozen foods and cooked dinners etc. Some can go into jams and whatnot but at a vast reduction back to the producers and transporters.
The drivers of those trucks also lost their asses.
Many will have load loss insurance hassles, loss of hours running*, fuel wasted, many own the loads and will take a loss there, it's a cascading affect that should land Abbott's ass in jail immediately and prison after trial. He has single-handedly ratfucked us all and should be removed from office before he does even more damage tomorrow.
*This applies to drivers losing $$ because they are not paid by the hour, they are paid by the load with penalties for being late, and the truck owners for the time the truck is sitting idle, loaded or not but worse if loaded.
This whole disruption of food supply chain is becoming a coordinated global effort by authoritarians who think they can bring the world's population to its knees in the near future. This is what we are up against and it illustrates the imperative of removing them from power everywhere.

(8,059 posts)he assumed Texans would rally around him clogging up the border crossings like the MAGA types did in Canada. Instead he just caused a SHITLOAD of waste and expense and hassle for absolutely no benefit to ANYONE. Can insurance companies who have to cover these losses sue his stupid ass?
