With the Dems to convict, the Repubs WOULD have been rid of him, as they claimed they wanted. Some of their base would have been upset, but what were they going to do—vote for Dems? And donors probably would have been relieved, as long as they continued to get the legislative and court blocks they wanted.

So I just don’t buy how much they wanted him gone, and it shows how totally corrupt and spineless they are.
