I'm in Frederick County, Maryland. The alert says that the Potomac is going to flood at the town of Point of Rocks, not far from here, by midday Wednesday. Currently the river is at 2.9 feet. Flood stage is 16 feet. It's expected to crest at 30 feet on Wednesday! The alert came from the National Weather Service in Sterling Virginia.
This wasn't stated in the alert, but it also logically means that a whole of lot of bad will be heading down river from there and flooding places like Old Town in D.C.
