(133,085 posts)that cares is under attack. They are planning to suppress that 80% of the population and in the new right's dreams the 80% are forced into hiding when doing kind things. It is disgusting.

(27,296 posts)The Central Library of Brooklyn across from Grand Army Plaza is a a very nice building with great detailing, also in the very big lobby (where they've hosted artists' work), and mezzanine.
They redid the outdoor plaza really nicely, too while I lived there in the 00's (as opposed to other borroughs).

(28,493 posts)Several decades ago, when I lived in Phoenix and had small children needing occasional babysitting, I'd hire local kids. I always asked them if they had a library card, and if the answer was no, took them immediately to the local library and got them signed up. And I also signed the permission to check out any and all adult books.

Kick in to the DU tip jar?
This week we're running a special pop-up mini fund drive. From Monday through Friday we're going ad-free for all registered members, and we're asking you to kick in to the DU tip jar to support the site and keep us financially healthy.
As a bonus, making a contribution will allow you to leave kudos for another DU member, and at the end of the week we'll recognize the DUers who you think make this community great.
