Sometimes even a bad example is a good example!

(8,747 posts)and most commentators are making this very point. They were explicitly referencing the horror that was Trump and Brexit too. France was not willing to embark in an adventure after seeing the consequences in the US and the UK.

(32,318 posts)another loss for Putin. That invasion was a bad idea. How much money did Putin pour into Le Pen?
Mr. Sparkle
(3,710 posts)That was a tough vote if you were a liberal in France. You ended up voting for the lesser of two evils.

(10,969 posts)Is it the media? The need for a story? "Stay tuned, we don't know what will happen next!" Tons of articles about if Le Pen wins.
Ok, but it's France. Nearly every election you have a bajillion candidates from the center to the left dividing the vote, so the Right gets someone in with a rather small percentage.
Then the run-off comes, and all those lefties and centrists coalesce around the not crazy right-winger.
It wasn't even a mild possibility Le Pen would win. But people seemed to think so.
