One of the first things they will do, will be to attempt to get several states to de-certify the election of Joe Biden and install Donald Trump into the presidency.
If that doesn't work, the second thing they will do will be to impeach Joe Biden. They will be out for revenge, in order to keep their base from revolting.
They will impose radical immigration policies on our southern border.
They will pass anti-abortion laws in every state possible.
It will be one of the most radical agendas this nation has ever seen, in my opinion.

(3,213 posts)he's been impeached more than Trump.
Most laws won't get passed though. They're not going to have 60 votes to bypass a filibuster in the Senate, and even if McConnell eliminates the filibuster, Biden can veto it and they can't override the veto.
Now if they win in 2024 and keep Congress, then yes - those things are very likely.

(19,382 posts)Impeachment of President Biden? Im not sure they will. They would want to but they wont unless it advantageous to them. I dont think the country wants to see that happen.

(2,090 posts)Impeachment will be an absolute certainty along with extensive 'investigations' regarding Democrats and their supporters. It will be their number one priority.

(14,716 posts)Impeachment would backfire on them and accomplish nothing.
Tickle
(4,131 posts)them because their base is drooling over it now. Should repubs take the house nothing will get done. Itll be stalemate. Then Biden can just keep appointing judges. Should they take the senate to , then Biden can use his EO
SCantiGOP
(14,716 posts)Impeachment would alienate that 10-15% that can swing; they know they have the base locked up anyway.
A poll at 538 a few weeks ago showed that almost 60% of registered voters said they would be opposed to any attempt by a GOP House to impeach Biden.

While there is no constitutional way for this to happen, there are repugs that are still attempting to do this as they hav since the election... And yes, it will continue to get pushed harder.
"If that doesn't work, the second thing they will do will be to impeach Joe Biden. They will be out for revenge, in order to keep their base from revolting."
100% this will happen, no doubt. I would only be surprised if it was not the very first thing they do.
"They will impose radical immigration policies on our southern border.

They are doing both of these right now... Abbott's 'vehicle inspections' and bussing of immigrants to DC... It's insane.
"It will be one of the most radical agendas this nation has ever seen, in my opinion."
All of the true items you list I fear are only the tip of the iceberg. I very much fear their current war against anyone not a straight white male will escalate to places we have not thought they would tread... I have little doubt they will try to make their hatred into law far more extreme then they are doing right now.
I don't think you are off base at all... You may be understating it a bit.

And we may yet hold the Senate too.

Impeachment is possible, but removal has never been done and I don't see them getting the numbers necessary this cycle, and even if they did, they'd end up with President Harris.

(24,951 posts)it would be great if Republicans wouldn't coddle the crazy guy. We don't coddle mental patients that don't live in reality. We treat them. WTF is almost every member of the Republican Party so insistent on validating this guy's delusions? I know that they're afraid of his minions or his strongly worded statements but they need to grow some cajones and cut it out. No less than our country is at stake here.
Mad_Machine76

They will talk big about the Big Lie and decertifying electoral votes, but it will go nowhere because
1) its a state matter, and
2) electoral votes cant be uncertified

(96,882 posts)There's nothing the House can do that Republican House members couldn't do today. It won't happen.
As for item 2, maybe they will, and the Senate won't have the votes to convict.
As for Item 3, maybe they will, and they won't have the votes to override Biden's veto.
As for Item 4, ditto.
Panic is not healthy.
kentuck
(115,400 posts)They cannot impeach at this time.
If they get the majority, they will not be concerned about whether the Senate will convict, they will impeach anyway.
Of course, most of their votes are only meant to placate their base so I think you are attempting to apply some sort of rationality to their actions?

People forget that Trump's numbers were climbing after his first impeachment. He was taking a victory lap and probably on his way to winning again until Covid took off.
