I was a bit taken aback, and perhaps I read this wrong but it went something like this as far as I could see: on her show her guest was the father of a prisoner still held in Russia and not released today. She must have asked him 10 times if he was satisfied with how President Biden was handling the situation, given that others were released but not his son. He stated 10 times that he knew the President Biden was doing the best he could do, and that its a very difficult road and it was perhaps because the Russians asked too much in return. Undaunted, Ms. Jackson stated that he, the father, had requested a meeting with President Biden and had been told no, not at this time and how did he feel about that? He replied that the President is a busy man, trying to manage a war in Europe, and also all the other issues with face the chief executive of a very large country. She kept using words and phrases such as: are you disappointed, are you upset, and the like, and I will say for his part the gentleman gave every benefit of every doubt to President Biden. She seemed incredibly disappointed and I suppose wanted the father to get excited and rail against the administration, but that did not happen.
I was a little surprised that after the first couple questions asked in a negative fashion that she persisted. I dont see this as hard questions, I see this as an attempted shock journalism such that she could get a sound byte of this father disparaging the President and with that, the country and the Administration . If anyone else saw this, do they have any thoughts, I would be most interested.

(53,158 posts)Yeah, I think she often tries too hard to be controversial. I rarely watch her anymore as she tends to get belligerent and confrontational with guests. Maybe someone advised her to get more aggressive in her interviews, but I find it to be a total turnoff. Meanwhile, this poor father had to sit there and be badgered by her at a time when he is probably on pins and needles waiting for his son to come back home.
There is no excuse for that kind of behavior, especially as it appears she is just trying to promote herself (poorly) instead of focusing on the story and her guest. It is a bad career move for any journalist to make him/herself part of the story. Being obnoxious is not the same as asking tough questions.

(12,179 posts)son. She focused on a Biden and then tried to create biased news out of this horrible situation for this father and son.
It's ghoulish.

(1,654 posts)prodding him for the answer she seemed to want. I had not noticed this in her much in the past, but then I had never paid a lot of attention to the daytime readers, except to make sure to change the channel when Chuckles comes on. But I thought it was really nasty of her to kind of rub it in - how come it's not YOUR son who was released? I thought he kept his cool pretty well and certainly hope his son is released soon.

Yeah, twit was fishing for a cheap sound bite to promo her show. It's a cheap stunt.

(114,555 posts)The only time I ever saw Morning Joe was in the hospital when the pain meds wore off and I was desperate for distraction, any distraction. He might have realized we were right about the Republicans, but he's still thick as a plank. I won't miss him.
Foir the record, I'm on Mountain Time.

(20,465 posts)more an observation.
I know exactly what you mean about laying in a hospital bed trying to find something - anything - to take your mind off your pain level, and the discomfort of hospital beds themselves. Listening through the crappy little speaker built in to one of those tiny TV remotes is another pain no one needs.
I feel the same about "Morning Joe".
I think I'd almost rather have another spinal operation than watch that jackass. Almost.
