I'd rather stab myself with a fork

This is in reply to a deleted poll on cellphone use.

If I could cancel my cell voice service without cancelling my internet, I would do it in a New York minute. I keep hoping that no one will ever call me. Never happens.

My mobile phone is for my convivence, not anyone else's.

I don't jump whenever it rings, or whenever I get a text.

Unless I'm expecting a call, I usually do not even look to see who is calling until I feel like it. If I hear a voicemail beep after the call, I'll listen to it as soon as I can, usually.

I will eventually answer texts, unless they are just bullshit, but if they are not important, it might take me few days to answer.

I usually find that if a call or text is urgent, my phone will start blowing up with rapid fire texts or calls. Only then will I look at it immediately.

I have to carry a smart phone because I have two apps that are medical monitors.

But I try not to be a slave to it.

I also have a landline. I get so many spam calls that I turned the ringers off all of the landline phones. I let the answering machine get it.

Leave a message, and I'll get back to you on my timeline. Or, not. My landline phone has a blocker button, and you're damn right I use it. If you're trying to sell me a car warranty--or anything else, consider yourself blocked. I don't even have my mobile phone on most of the time. It's mainly for emergencies.

I really don't get this mentality that one is obligated to answer the phone immediately. THEY are impinging on your time, not the other way around.

Not good enough? Keep the internet but take a hammer to the phone. If desired, tell people who think you have some kind of responsibility to them to drop dead, THEN smash the phone.
