Correction, watched the whole video, and much of the shrinkage occurred during the last 3000 years.

7. Actually the graph he draws at 13:15 into the video say 3,000 years ago.

Science News also has an article that talks about human brain shrinkage over the last 3,000 years. The graph shows dramatic shrinkag over that time-frame, but there isn't a measure across the bottom of the graph to show us the actual time.

Most of the video seemed to imply that he's talking about a longer time-frame than 3,000 years, and Discover has an article that talks about shrinkage over the last 40,000 years. I'm not sure what's right.

Would be my guess. Cereal based diet is not all that great, but it is so much cheaper as a source of calories (translate less labor intensive). Better to have many more less healthy tribesmen than fewer more healthy ones.
