I am a married woman who never had kids. Not I didn't want them-we just couldn't. Please don't judge my husband he just doesn't feel comfortable with adoption. I say these only so you understand my thinking and perhaps I have no right to say this but I am angry and scared feel frighten to live I this country right now.
Yes, I know worse is going on in the world and far worse is happening; war, famine, pandemic, and climate change but this news has made the floor call out from under my feet.
I am terrified for my nieces and all women. I worry what the next step will be.
I am scared that this ruling may not anger enough people to vote for democrats in Nov it will get the religious right stirred up that we are drowned by a crimson cape ready to place the Authoritarian rule in place in this country.
I am truly scared

He told me some other areas where they had plans. Seems likely now, too.

(26,913 posts)Im older n have been supporting the reproductive rights issue since the 70s. Im scared that birth control is next. I do believe that one way or the other there will be an underground movement but not all will be able to obtain it. I also agree with you that women will die b/c of this ruling. Im pissed. Im angry b/c as a woman, were losing ourselves to become fetus incubators. No laws or rules for men..only us. No ramifications for the men who desert their partners or try to harm them. One person on All In said the sky has fallen. Yes, it has.

(553 posts)The Republicans will not stop once they end abortion... They will go after Birth Control... and much more....
They think that women should be in the home, pregnant, and barefoot.... They want to go back to the 40's, where women had on rights at all. Could not own property without a man's signature, could not vote, and had no say in how they lived. these Neanderthals want to be able to control women, period. And the hypocrisy of it all is, they love the fetus, but hate the child.
They propose nothing to help a child and where there is help, they cut it.... It's not about the baby, it's about the control of the women...
As a male, I find this simply appalling that they think so little of women and they can't make their own health care decisions. I find most women I know are very lovely and able to make many decisions on their own health care decisions.
I will not be voting for any Republican on my ballet, from dog catcher to congress.... I had enough!

(12,217 posts)But I never thought I'd see this happen. I'm not exactly having an anxiety attack, but I'm DEFINITELY feeling anxious and a little sick. This is such a giant step for the forces of regression and oppression, and they must be GIDDY right not.
Not only am I male, I'm Canadian, so I guess someone could say it doesn't affect me, but it f'ing does! It affects anyone anywhere that believes in human and civil rights.

(22,582 posts)I thought they were probably going to do this, but I figured we'd have some warning about when to expect a decision and that it wouldn't happen for weeks yet. The way this news broke with absolutely NO warning and in a completely unprecedented way was very shocking because we were all caught off guard. I'm still reeling from the news myself. Once it's had a chance to sink in, I know I'm going to be very, very angry. I just haven't gotten to that phase yet.
While I'm posting here, let me assure you that I believe you have every right to the feelings you've expressed here. Please don't let anyone tell you otherwise. We are all in this together, regardless of our personal reproductive status. Taking a constitutional right away from any woman hurts ALL of us, because it sends a powerful message that we as women are less than and not entitled to the rights we believed we believed were implicitly ours. That is an insult to all of us and outrage for all of us.
The fight has just begun!
