They tried for 49 F**KING YEARS and they finally did it.

The men's club for men have finally put women back in their place. Barefoot, pregnant and chained to their lord and master for life.

No more our bodies ourselves, we will just be livestock now to breed and feed for our 'superior' partners. The Handmaidens Tale will be a reality. We told you it would happen. We told you to GET OUT AND VOTE.

You listened to the wrong people. I know exactly who they are and will never forgive one of them. Never.

…worked with her in the community on several liberal platforms.

Just before the 2016 election we had lunch together and she just blew me away with her negative views on Obama (who I adored as a homeboy from Honolulu) and her hatred of Hillary (who I thought was perfectly fine for POTUS, even if I didn’t love her). Of Hillary she sneered, “She knows all the levers of power” — like that would be a bad thing for a Democrat. And HRC was a warmonger, too.

My final attempt at a reality check was to bring up SCOTUS, but it was a complete non-starter. I don’t remember which 3rd party candidate my friend said she’d vote for — but it was the last time we saw each other.

On DU I’ve been thru 20 years of election cycles, and there are always people who are just so sure that their presidential vote will count as some kind of protest. They are looking for utter perfection, and cannot see that the US president can only serve 8 years max, but that SCOTUS is until death do us part. And here we are.

Nobody likes to be told they were wrong. But when I am wrong I need to be told so that I can learn from it. They were dead wrong.

we cannot speak the truth!

if we cannot speak the truth there is no getting past it. We need to defeat the republicans and the truth is the only thing that can do that and we can’t even be truthful about what transpired.

I hate their publication and see it as a RW source and never post them. However ya know it's true since the RW is celebrating our RW SCOTUS decision.

Also there are about a dozen posts on DU about this...so

Sorry I could not produce anything other than the RW joy that women lost big time. I have 2 women adults and three baby girls in my direct family. I fear for them.

…give you the thoughtful answer you deserve.

Look over in Women’s Rights & Issues https://www.democraticunderground.com/?com=forum&id=1138 just in case there’s a history.

Right now we are all in the ranting, grieving, and pulling out one’s own hair phase of absorbing the news, because it really is that bad. This throws women back a century, not just 50 years.

If you are interested, you can send me a private DU message and remind me to start a history of women’s reproductive rights/SCOTUS thread tomorrow. The way to use DU mail is to look at the upper left hand corner of this post, where you’ll see my name, and several icons. The one that looks like a letter is the one you click.

I remember having to convince good friends to vote for Al Gore in 2000 because they did not find him progressive enough. The argument I used then as in 2016 was THE COURT.
I don’t like Al Gore… THE COURT… I don’t like Hillary Clinton… THE COURT.
it will never happen. THE COURT.

We must UNITE to fight this.

About Our Bodies Ourselves
In 1970, a group of women in the Boston area self-published “Women and Their Bodies,” a 193-page booklet that dared to address sexuality and reproductive health, including abortion. They distributed it for 75 cents. A year later, they changed the title to “Our Bodies, Ourselves” — and changed the women’s health movement around the world. The U.S. book was updated in print through 2011 and online until 2018, while global adaptions are still in development today. We invite you to learn more about OBOS’s influence, impact, and ongoing advocacy work, and about Our Bodies Ourselves Today, a new collaboration with the Center for Health & Human Rights at Suffolk University.

Not ever.

They know who they are, doubt they even care about the harm they have done to women.
