A now forgotten fact: Jane Roberts is deeply involved in the anti-abortion movement

https://www.denverpost.com/2005/07/20/roberts-lawyer-wife-firmly-against-abortion/

Roberts’ lawyer wife firmly against abortion
By The Los Angeles Times
July 20, 2005 at 5:03 p.m.

Washington – While Supreme Court nominee John G. Roberts Jr.’s views on abortion triggered speculation Wednesday on Capitol Hill, there was no mistaking where his wife stands: Jane Sullivan Roberts, a lawyer, is ardently against abortion.

A Catholic like her husband, Jane Roberts has been deeply involved in the anti-abortion movement. She lends her name, money and professional advice to a small Washington-based organization – Feminists for Life of America Inc. – that offers counseling and educational programs. The group has filed legal briefs before the Supreme Court challenging the constitutionality of abortion.

A spouse’s views normally are not considered relevant in weighing someone’s job suitability. But abortion is likely to figure prominently in the Senate debate over Roberts’ nomination.

And with his position on the divisive issue unclear, abortion-rights supporters expressed concern Wednesday that his wife’s views might suggest he also embraces efforts to overturn Roe vs. Wade.

5. My beloved adopted nieces are the most ardent abortion supporters I know.

The children of my heart are those beloved adopted girls. I am an ardent supporter of abortion.

Fewer adoptions don't mean more adoptions. That is a fallacy.

And, as I say, my nieces' birth mothers gave us the greatest gift possible. I have never met them but I have a deep love for them. To suggest that my family, my happiness, should have come from coercion and subjugation of those great ladies, rather than from their decisions or difficult circumstances, would break my heart.
