I expected Republicans to be meeker and more prudent after getting rid of Roe

If there's anything we know about Republicans, it's that they love power. We also know that they don't give a DAMN about fetuses, especially minority ones.

So I honestly expected that, once they got rid of Roe, Republicans would act a little like the dog who finally caught the truck he's been chasing all these years- pretty regretful. Instead, the Louisiana Legislature wants to prosecute women who get an abortion for murder, and the Senate GOP is talking about nationwide legislation making abortion illegal.

Can someone explain to me how this makes political sense? A recent poll shows Americans support abortion rights by a 2-to-1 margin. Do Republicans think those voters are going to LIKE being told that they are murderers? What's going on here?

Their whole policy platform is to make people suffer. With glee. Subverting half the human race? They're celebrating!

It's al about exercising power to "own the libs." THAT makes them happy. Pure hatred and punishment and revenge. For what, I don't know, but they live to exercise their hate. Nothing makes them happier.

I honestly think they are reveling in their sadistic joy out of how thoroughly they can fuck us over. And they are just getting warmed up.

Right now, how many college-age women are voting in state legislative elections? Probably not many. I bet a bunch of them are about to start. I bet some frat boys will as well- they don't relish the idea of supporting a child after a one-night stand.

This is doing nothing but making new political enemies among some voting blocs that right now are very inactive. I just don't see the political sense in it.

and only know what Fox tells the, 1/3 is liberal, and bothers to learn facts, 1/3 can’t be bothered to know what is going on until it slaps them in the face. Of that total, 60% actually vote.

Fewer people staying religious. Most people supporting abortion right. Heck, even 49% of republicans support marriage equality. They're shedding members faster (from natural causes) faster than they can replace them. They've been big losers on the popular vote as well. Everything they're doing - gerrymandering, making it more difficult for people to vote, January 6th as a trial run, all these laws, court cases is because they know they don't have the support of America, and they don't know how long they have so they've got to do something now.

They have been working to suppress votes for decades, by using misinformation to shake people's faith in government. They have also been using government power to literally make it harder to impossible for some people to vote.

They think that keeping their base riled up and supressing our people is enough of a strategy. Unfortunately, they have had some decent success, especially in the states, with this strategy.

Best answer and analogy I can offer is the suggestion that the regressives of now are no different from the Genghis Khan hordes of then, sweeping through communities in brutal reigns of terror for terrors' sake. It is little more than a primitive blood lust.

They actually want Roe to be repealed as well as many other social changes-- end of gay marriages etc. They believe their cause is holy and they will support all means necessary to keep power.
