(63,221 posts)I would honestly like to see him as our Democratic presidential nominee, however in this current toxic, hateful environment I am not so sure how well he would do.
On the other hand, I do think he would bring out a lot of on-the-fence Dems and Independents because he's not the same-old, same-old. And he would definitely get the votes of solid Dems and Progressives. He could surprise us.

(13,480 posts)He served his country in the military, he is in a stable relationship and has adopted two babies, he is obviously brilliant and thoughtfulyet the right wing would crucify him if they could just for being gay while they brag about how great Trump is, a man who cheated on his wife (all of them), lies constantly, cheated in business, and committed every ethics violation possible during his four years in office. Plus, hes one of the most ignorant people on the planet. Pete has a sterling character compared with Trump, and I hope to see him as president someday.

(5,482 posts)and his calm demeanor and intelligent answers to their ridiculous gotcha questions, always made the Fox hosts irritated with him.
Did Fox finally learn their lesson and stop inviting him on?

(11,767 posts)I defintely like the way he can boil down an argument.
He is not however, the first to say this.
Republicans are the party of the wealthy. By aligning with the Conservative movement, they are the party of hierarchy, or White, Male, Christian Supremacy.
Their policies do absolutely nothing to help the average American. All they have is to promote fear and bolster resentment. They point to vulnerable people and say, "they are taking your jobs, threatening your safety, and indoctrinating your children". All the while, the leaders and financial backers of the Republican party hoard the wealth and power in this country to themselves. They literally make people's lives less healthy, less safe, and less happy, but they are able to bank on the ignorance, fear, and anger of a group of people to keep themselves in power.

(769 posts)And there's many more of us than anyone thinks.
Certainly more than those RW idiots who want to take away
women's rights to their own bodies or the whole anti-gay fiasco
that's going on in Florida and other parts of this country.
So keep on speaking out, Pete, we need your voice.

(26,667 posts)There are very few that I'd rather listen to break down the issues than Pete. He's a master class in public speaking.
