(77,847 posts)When will Russia turn on Putin? He has become the richest man in the world by stealing
from the Russian people and he is behind God only knows the # of dead man, women, and
children.

(39,120 posts)It is hard to overthrow a despot, especially one as thorough and canny as Putin.
Look how long Saddam Hussein held Iraq. would he have been overthrown if America hadn't done it?

The Euro was introduced as noted below - almost a decade later - in 1999:
...
After a decade of preparations, the euro was launched on 1 January 1999: for the first three years it was an invisible currency, only used for accounting purposes and electronic payments. Coins and banknotes were launched on 1 January 2002, and in 12 EU countries the biggest cash changeover in history took place.

It is very difficult to claim that Hussein was not considered an enemy after August 2, 1990. Iraq was not invaded, though, at that time for other reasons.
Anyway, if my statement is incorrect, please show me why it is so.

(6,323 posts)The Real Reasons for the Upcoming War With Iraq
A Macroeconomic and Geostrategic Analysis of the Unspoken Truth

SUMMARY
Although completely suppressed in the U.S. media, the answer to the Iraq enigma is simple yet shocking -- it is an oil currency war. The real reason for this upcoming war is this administration's goal of preventing further Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) momentum towards the euro as an oil transaction currency standard.

(42,390 posts)Wasn't this the obvious plan all along? He never intended to notify their next of kin when his soldiers died in battle.
Missing soldiers are dead soldiers. Putin is a monster of the worst sort.

.
Sailor families have been trying to collect death benefits and told that the 'accident' happened in international waters outside of a combat area, and the sailors are either dead or missing so they get no money.

for a government that shows little care for them.
I suspect the majority of Russians will just accept the loss

(114,662 posts)They've done a lot of horrific things in this war they started but piling up the dead until a burial detail can get to them is not one of them. This anonymous treatment of massive and decomposing casualties happens in every war. It's why we need to avoid war.
Now not identifying them and just leaving their families hanging forever, that is bad.
