Watergate was only the beginning of what the GOP continues to do to our Govt.

So I have been watching Gaslit (highly recommend) and got to thinking who the players were and
If they had ALL been taken to the woodshed and served REAL hard time if we would be in this postTFG Hot mess today?

If you want to trail down memory lane here is a good refresher of the players involved.

Nixon was a goddamn boy scout compared to Trump and the gang of thieves in Congress NOW makes the 1975 Congress look like a bunch of radical leftists.

These Repugs/conservatives will NEVER stop.

I think good people will be fighting to keep this democracy long after we're gone. I really feel for the young people of today.

Iran Contra (check out The Invisible Pilot on HBO for a backstory) and how many got off or were pardoned, stolen elections in 2000 and years and years of voter suppression, etc.

I am not old enough to remember the extent to which they really were that incompetent. I wonder just how true that was.

When looking at the whole of history during the 20th century, republicans have been at war with the US since the civil war, but it wasn’t until the 20th century that they regained their strength to do it.

After FDR, the purpose of the house unamerican committee wasn’t about “finding commies” its sole purpose was to completely undo everything that FDR did. And from that point on, the republicans have been largely successful.

Why? Because Democrats had lost their fight, they played the republicans game and got lost in the weeds.

That’s it in a nut shell

Everything we are experiencing now has been building for a very long time, way before watergate.

Watergate was nothing but a mere battle to the republicans, they still were waging a war while the Dems were high giving each other.

I can go in and on and give many many examples, but you get the idea
