From today’s press release from ACOG:

ACOG 2023 Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting Will Not Be Held in Louisiana

ACOG will be relocating next year’s Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting from New Orleans, Louisiana, to a state whose legislative climate is consistent with our values. Holding the nation’s largest gathering of obstetrician–gynecologists in a location where the provision of evidence-based care is banned or subject to criminal or other penalties is directly at odds with our mission and values.

Our annual meetings are the source of learning, camaraderie, community, and strength. It is important that our flagship national meeting be held in a location that shares our values, protects our members as they do their jobs, and provides patients with full access to reproductive health care. We look forward to announcing our new location whose laws allow our members to provide and our patients to receive evidence-based care without fear of criminal prosecution or other penalties.

Editing to add that there has not yet been anything posted on the ACOG website, so I'm still unable to provide a link.

There are lots of good pro-choice places for conventions: Colorado, California, Nevada, to name just a few. No need to spend their money in places that don't welcome health care providers for women.

Those states should be punished in every way we can. The Governors and legislatures have to feel the pain of their voting and rhetoric.........

The Outdoor Sports Manufacturers have a Huge yearly convention once a year. I think it used to be in Salt Lake...and it was moved to Denver for last years convention. The "powers to be?" are moving it back to Salt Lake, and the manufacurers, last I heard, are protesting moving back to SLC, wanting it to continue in Denver, and a large number of manufacturers are threatening that if they do go ahead and move it to SLC that they will not attend in retaliation..........

It is time these super RED states all "feel the pain" of their voting and continuous Rhetoric..........

I would love to see a list of things we could to to Texas and Florida, in particular......

It usually rotates to major cities throughout the country. The last in-person meeting was in Nashville in 2019.
I imaging we will steer clear of red states for the foreseeable future.

or elsewhere.

ACOG just ended its 2022 annual meeting on the May 9th, so maybe it's too early. However there is nothing where press releases are shown.

Hope it is moving, though.

for other professional groups. It might be too much to expect business and trade groups to follow this example but pinching these outlier states with loss of revenue and prestige is a great start. Hopefully actions like this will begin to open eyes in the one way they appear to understand: denting them economically.

Of MD medical systems. Rethug gov Hogan still holding up funding allocated in budget to train np, midwives, and physicians assistants to be trained to do abortions. Would be big slap in his face

Stay in New Orleans and dare them to arrest you.

Can you imagine the impact of thousands of ob-gyn docs being hauled off to jail by NO and LA cops?
