Controversial Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas complained that a draft decision overturning the right to abortion was leaked
Thomas made his remarks at the Old Parkland Conference, where he was interviewed by torture memo author John Yoo, Politico reported.
When you lose that trust, especially in the institution that Im in, it changes the institution fundamentally. You begin to look over your shoulder, Thomas said. Its kind of like infidelity that you can explain it, but you cant undo it.

You voted to attack and eviscerate the Voting Rights Act....
You voted to let unfettered money buy political power unchallenged the breeds corruption...
And then there is your wife who thinks my vote should be thrown out.....and supports sedition / insurrections.....

(19,564 posts)Yeah, that can be uncomfortable if you've avoided it your entire career.
Cry me a river. You've been instrumental in the destruction of our nation as we knew it. He's just having a sad because the spotlight is on him now for his choices. Well, suck it up buttercup. Choices have consequences. Deal. Just like all the rest of us have had to deal with your bad choices.

(2,787 posts)Wish I could rec this a thousand times!!! We sure don't keep up with the times, do we? Not enough representatives to represent the people, and not enough SCOTUS judges to represent the court circuits. Did we just stop trying to keep up with the times when greed took over in the late 70's?

(6,917 posts)One of the symptoms of intellectual exhaustion is when you dont know what you dont know.
A Supreme Court justice is supposed to be the smartest person on the law in the United States, top of the class. Statements like this accidentally expose the obvious lackThomas complains to the mass media about the lack of his courts privacy.
You cant make this shit up.

(5,841 posts)...we're victims. Never mind that we are bullying the entire country; we're the real victims, waaaaahhhhh.
Gosh, when obviously unqualified political hacks - one of them who LIKES BEER, YOU KNOW - join your ranks, what did you expect? When the country wakes up and sees what you're doing - shattering the very precedents you vowed to uphold - they don't like it. When justices LIE in order to be seated on a bench which is supposedly the highest ethical standard in the land, PEOPLE GET ANGRY. When you refuse to recuse from political cases in which there is a clear conflict of interest, PEOPLE NOTICE.
Go have a stroke, you motherfucker.

(37,159 posts)You've also had plenty of time to repair the damage since then, by recusing yourself to avoid the appearance of conflict of interest, or resigning outright because that would have resulted in you pretty much being absent all the time.
Don't complain about reaping shit when that's what you sewed.
