General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI just heard this CASUALLY stated by CNN reporter: "--- a surge (in PA) by Ms Barnette who
APPEALS MORE TO THE REPUBLICAN GRASSROOTS---"
This is the woman who is even too "Trumpy" for Trump----a bigoted, racist homophobe who opposes ALL abortions with NO exceptions!
Hillary was being kind when she referred to these mean-spirited idiots as just "deplorable".

I think that explains Trump, too.

(6,269 posts)more advertising revenue. The more it seems there is a' horse race' going on the more drama to be manufactured. They, the media for the most part, during an election cycle cannot print truth just drama. Local people like me must be educated by our own instincts and local Democratic Party offices and other Democrats.
Let the Fox Snooze people drown in their own BS. I am focused and ready for the upcoming challenge of voting. GOTV.

(11,277 posts)They won't be able to "shift to the center" in the general election...the Roe blue wave will swamp them all. Claiming voter fraud will further expose their disingenuous ignorance. If it doesn't, we will have lost democracy. I'm counting on decent people of any political stripe to say "enough".

(1,000 posts)When those special rights they so appreciate seem to be extra judicial-beating up cops, threatening election workers, health workers, school board workers, busting windows and doors on government buildings, shooting protesters they don't agree with, blocking commerce at the northern and southern border, you know, "legitimate political discourse."

(11,114 posts)The field was ripe for a third person to come in and seize the "anyone but those two" vote. Mix in her surge is coming at an opportune moment. There isn't enough time between now and Tuesday to do any deep dives into what I expect to be a fairly problematic history.
If her surge had been a month ago, she might have already come and gone.
Now, there is a realistic chance it will be her. I think Fetterman would wipe the floor with her or Oz, so I'm not too concerned.

(4,301 posts)I have dual citizenship and as someone who ended up physically disabled, there are times I have allowed myself the fantastical thought of running for office before I get too old. Healthcare and recognition of the chronically ill and disabled in daily life would be important causes to me.
Not sure what my dual citizenship would have to do with it.

@HeartlandSignal
Dasha Burns (NBC) confronts Kathy Barnette, a late-surging GOP PA Senate candidate, with old tweets.
BURNS: This tweet says "pedophilia is a cornerstone of Islam."
BARNETTE: Yea. Nope. Don't think that's me. I would never have said that.
The tweet (from Apr. 2015) is still up.
