DeSantis signs law making picketing, protesting outside a person's home illegal

https://www.wtsp.com/article/news/regional/florida/desantis-signs-law-picketing-protesting-outside-a-persons-home-illegal-florida/67-d92f3b77-f0e0-430b-b977-fb19de892d9b

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis on Monday signed into law a bill, HB 1571, to make protesting outside of a person's home illegal, starting with a warning and then an arrest if the person does not peaceably disperse.

The offense will be classified as a second-degree misdemeanor.

The Florida bill signing comes shortly after three U.S. Supreme Court justices began seeing protests outside their homes. Those federal protests followed the leaking of a draft opinion that suggested the nation's highest court was on the verge of overturning Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey in a decision that would prompt several states to ban or restrict abortions.

Due to protestors outside the residences of Samuel Alito, Amy Coney Barrett and Clarence Thomas in Fairfax County, Virginia, county leaders have asked Virginia's governor to establish a security perimeter around their neighborhoods, according to a report from the Associated Press.

But do beware. Every single one of these lawsuits to fight such attempts to legislate fascism will find its way to the SCOTUS who will relieve us of those rights.

Mark my word. That is the plan.

I am a Bernie Democratic Socialist and I find myself cheering Disney and wanting them to sue and recoup all the corporate perks that desantis and the gop deprived them of. I am soooo incensed at this christo-fascist, white supremacist republican party that I am willing to sacrifice every belief I have about corporations to get rid of this horrible impending fascist trump wannabe from getting more power.

It would keep demonstrators from making Dems look bad by protesting outside people's homes. We would keep some of the votes demonstrators currently cost us and our causes would benefit. I'm not sure DeSantis has thought this through.

DeSantis passed one of his draconian laws recently, criminalizing street protesters blocking traffic. It was clearly intended to target BLM protests. Then his Miami Cuban-American base blocked a Miami expressway during rush hour traffic, protesting the possible lifting of the Cuban embargo by the present administration. Ron looked the other way and did nothing.

The last paragraph is incorrect. Fairfax County Leadership has specifically stated that no special zone needs to be set up around any of the Justices homes that are in Northern Virginia. The County Board Executive specifically told Governor Youngkin to stay out of this matter. FCPD are currently stationed at the Justices homes and none of the protests have been disruptive.

They want both the Constitutional rights and privileges granted at the federal level, as well as all the money and protections they can get from the federal government that comes with being a part of a larger country, but they also want their states to be seen and treated as separate fiefdoms.

They want to be "President" of their states.
