And this is our oldest son first time voting, I was going to train as Poll worker yet then I thought after my wifes bronchitis in March she is unfortunately immune compromised i thought maybe no on Poll worker.
I have bacon in oven and will put in the frozen pillsbury butter biscuits later, so yes the three furry domestic woofs are ready for their civic duties to for democracy mooching.
Yet I tell the furry boys that egg bacon sandwiches are not written into the constitution by the way Du community the kitchen floor is wet from woof drool.

(43,036 posts)but Democratic Breakfast Club might be a unique local marketing concept. All our locals do is evening fundraisers with politico speakers. Good, but it's kind of an insider event concept. Need to reach the masses.

(43,036 posts)Democratic Party needs to start thinking long term with deploy-able assets and ideology because that's the way the other side plays. We seem to congregate around issues and personalities to carry the day.

But then here in Philly, the "narrative" has become, ahem... and I quote...
"DESPITE REGISTERED DEMOCRATS BEING IN THE MAJORITY, DEMOCRATIC PARTY REGISTRATION CONTINUES TO 'DROP' THROUGH SWITCHES TO THE REPUBLICAN PARTY!!!11!11!!!!!"
And this gets tracked weekly by the state here - https://www.dos.pa.gov/VotingElections/OtherServicesEvents/VotingElectionStatistics/Documents/currentvotestats.xls (XLS spreadsheet)

Of course none of this has any relevance come general election time and particularly since you are lucky to get a 10% turnout for a primary. But it makes for great RW talking points and media creation and amplification of a "phenomena" that might or might not really be a "phenomena" at all.
I think if anything, you have had an increase in "No Affiliation" across the board.

(128,407 posts)because they ALL "towed the same loon line".
For governor, Mastriano heavily advertised here in Philly so he would probably get it by default from the most dedicated GOP voters and the rest will sit out the primary to see what happens. But the Senate contest will be the one to watch, especially since Oz is a carpet bagger.
I also just saw this -

(CNN) Mitch McConnell could be forgiven for experiencing a sense of deja vu in the run-up to Pennsylvania's Republican Senate primary on Tuesday. The Senate minority leader has spent the entire 2022 election telling anyone who will listen that a) Republicans should win back the majority this fall and b) the easiest way to blow it is to nominate candidates who can't appeal to general election voters. "How do you screw this up?" McConnell said in an interview earlier this year.
"I'm gonna mention four names, some of which you may actually remember: Christine O'Donnell, Sharron Angle, Todd Akin, Richard Mourdock." That quartet were Republican nominees for Senate in 2010 and 2012. They all won primaries fueled by tea party outrage but ultimately lost general elections because they proved unable to expand their appeal beyond the GOP base. And now, McConnell may we watching it happen all over again.
With just hours to go before the Pennsylvania primary, it's clear that Kathy Barnette, a little known conservative, is a real threat to beat TV doctor Mehmet Oz and wealthy businessman David McCormick for the Republican nomination in a state seen as critical to the party's majority hopes. Barnette has not been vetted in anything close to the way Oz and McCormick have and, in truth, it may be too late to stop her momentum. In just the last few days, a series of Islamaphobic tweets from Barnette have come to light as have questions about her military service.
"It's the job of the media to do the vetting," Barnette told Steve Bannon on Monday. "And they've been derelict in their duty like they are derelict in so many other things. It's not my job. It's not my fault that they didn't vet me."
(In truth, if Barnette wins, the campaigns of Oz and McCormick will kick themselves for not seeing her as a threat early enough.)

Forgot about Christine O'Donnell, "the witch" from Delaware.
Unless there are some in the GOP who think if they settle for Barnette, then because she is "black" (in quotes ), that will magically mean that for some reason, black Democrats from Philadelphia would lose their minds and vote for her, thus...
I'm just hoping that some of the other states who believe they have a chance to flip will get it in gear like OH or WI. We need as many as we can because Warnock is not necessarily a shoo-in and flips are needed to counter Manchin and Sinema.
