While everyone is glad to see this sack o' merde lose, my joy is tempered by the fact that the Republican leadership also wanted him to lose. He was a shining example of Republican values who embarrassed the leadership with his antics. In some ways it's too bad he's not in office showing the true face of the Republican corrupt grifters to the nation. The silver lining is the schadenfreude we can enjoy knowing that his post election employment plans probably are limited to assistant manager positions at Applebees.

Now they’ll gladly vote for Edwards or any other nominee.

I just looked up Chuck Edwards. He’s an older guy who owns a bunch of McDonalds franchises. From his bio…”Chuck was raised in a Southern Baptist home on McClure’s Creek with what he calls ‘mountain values.’”, “I believe the preamble to the NC Constitution binds us to consider our religious principles when passing legislation.”, and so on and so forth. Unlike Cawthorne, this guy is a true believer. The last thing we need.

I'm not one to cheer when my opponent makes a wise tactical move that doesn't benefit any cause I care about.

Ie.. id much rather have had ol cawthorn squeek past his primary by .001%, and then face a tougher general.

Instead we have a "respectable" trump supporter winning a primary in what I assume will be a fairly safe red district.
