In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party.
But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.
Now, watch their dirty tricks campaign against me unfold 🍿
Musk is a troll who loves drama.

While the automakers stock is down more than 7 percent today, the biggest news comes from the fact that Tesla has been removed from the S&P 500 ESG Index. As you may have guessed, Elon Musk isnt thrilled about this."
"The S&P 500 ESG Index evaluates companies environmental, social and governance data to rank and recommend them to investors. According to CNBC, the ESG Index uses criteria that includes hundreds of data points related to how companies handle their environmental impact and treat stakeholders like employees, vendors, partners, neighbors and customers. Each company in the Index is given a score based on these parameters."

(54,770 posts)saying they'd never vote for Hiliary Clinton (after their guy lost in the primaries) . . . . . and enough of them didn't.
Doc Sportello
(7,484 posts)In fact, the number of Sanders voters who did not vote for Hillary in the primary was estimated by several polls at between 6 and 12 percent. That number is dwarfed by the number of Hillary voters who voted for McCain over Obama, which comes in at 24 percent, and the number in 2016 is about average for a presidential general election. And this analysis below shows that not all the Sanders voters were even Democrats in the first place or, in your smear, that they are even liberals. Who in your mind are ot blame for everything; guess that's easier than blaming your hero and others like him whose wealth and income inequality they helped to create has made the robber barons of the late 19th Centruy look like pikers.

(54,770 posts)Without that, we wouldn't have trump. Probably wouldn't have had the hack here on election night, either.
Hoyt
(54,770 posts)"Fully 12 percent of people who voted for Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vt., in the 2016 Democratic presidential primaries voted for President Trump in the general election. That is according to the data from the Cooperative Congressional Election Study a massive election survey of around 50,000 people. (For perspective, a run-of-the-mill survey measuring Trump's job approval right now has a sample of 800 to 1,500.):
https://www.npr.org/2017/08/24/545812242/1-in-10-sanders-primary-voters-ended-up-supporting-trump-survey-finds
If only 100,000 in a few states, had controlled their misplaced anger, we never would have had trump.
And, there was another Democratic Senator bashing Obama and Clinton over trade right up to November 2016.
Doc Sportello
(7,484 posts)If you bothered to read the story it said between 6 and 12 percent so of course you took the higher number and ignored the part about many of them not being Democrats in the first place. And you're doing all this spinning and misleading simply as an attempt to deflect attention away from your hero - when the election of 2016 has nothing to do with him. Just stop it. You should be embarrassed but I guess your hero worship runs too deep. Truly sad.

He certainly never bothered to point out what a fucking awful human being, and choice for president, Trump was - because morally, he doesn't object to much Trump does (the only area Musk is clearly better about is climate change). He donates to people for strategic reasons, eg Rubio, because he wants government help for his space dreams.

Elon Musk
It can be strange, sometimes, to be me. Im the wealthiest man on the planet, for starters. Leaders across America, and indeed the world, look to me as a visionary driving technological progress in areas from transportation, to communication, to becoming a multi-planetary species. The kinds of projects Im involved in would blow most peoples minds. To the outside observer, Im sure it seems like I have it all. And maybe I do. Although Id like to make one simple request:
Please like me.
Please, for the love of all that is holy, consider me clever and interesting.
Honestly, I dont get why anyone wouldnt like me. I do cool stuff. I make cars. People like cars, dont they? I make stonks go to the moon. Isnt that cool? Isnt making stonks go to the moon something people like? Seriously, cmon. Appreciate me. I was on Rick And Morty. Wubba lubba dub dub, right? People love that show! I like to hang out. I microdose acid, a cool drug. Remember that time I went on Joe Rogans podcast and smoked that joint? Who else would be crazy enough to do that but me?

(11,722 posts)Democrats are the party that believes that GOVERNMENT should be used as a force for good. To equalize and restrain the excesses of Capitalism and defend the vulnerable against the greed of the powerful.
Democrats believe that most perspectives are valid and that those which hold the least power in society should be protected from being marginalized.
Democrats believe that those who benefit most from society, should be able to and should shoulder more of the burden for that benefit. The wealthy have always gotten more from society than they put in. That is exactly how you get wealthy. Not just rich, but wealthy.
Musk switched to Republican because he realized that they fight hardest for people like him to be in control of everything. They bring confort to the comfortable and will fight for a hierarchy with people like Musk at the top. No other reason.

(16,950 posts)billionaires and now he wants to join the fray and have his fun with his own insults. Note his popcorn emoji.
Recently he addressed AOC in a Tweet along the lines of her desiring him because she talked about him so much (something like that). He was apparently trying to mirror her general Twitter comment that the GOP talking about her so much means they desire her. So now he can strike back on his terms.
The Twitter wars are pretty childish all the way around, actually, and it's quite predictable that eventually this payback effort would surface in some form.
AZProgressive
(29,322 posts)But Musk took it personally.
Nixie
(16,950 posts)I was referring to AOC's recent tweet about the GOP "projecting sexual fantasies." I don't follow her, but I saw it here I think a few months ago. He mimicked/mocked her about that tweet.
AZProgressive
(29,322 posts)She was tweeting about a billionaire with an ego problem and mentions hate speech and Musk responds thinking it is about him.
Nixie
(16,950 posts)But, in general, the insults about billionaires from her colleagues are one-size-fits-all. They are repetitive and often superficial insults about billionaires that we can all repeat from having been exposed to them, so he's not completely off base thinking he was being called out. That did tip his hand, though, on how he intends to proceed with this Twitter deal.
AZProgressive
(29,322 posts)I think he proves their point about billionaires. He said Democrats were the party of division and hate less than a week after the Buffalo shooting. Plus it would be like me trying to buy forum or social media site because I dont like the content or how it is run. Im not a billionaire so I dont have that privilege.
Nixie
(16,950 posts)He owns a major car company called Tesla that was headquartered in California but he moved it to Texas, so thats when some of problems started.
Elon is a well known public figure, so I dont need them to impose their billionaire hating agenda on me as I can judge for myself and see how he has deteriorated.
And, actually, he was specific about the extremists he was talking about in our party, but you left that out and we cant talk about that here.
Thanks for agreeing with my observationshe is ready to insult them more and can do it all through buying Twitter. Hence my reference to his popcorn emoji. What he is doing is very predictable. Predictable doesnt imply fair, it just means predictable. The insults about billionaires are associated with one group in particular since around 2016, so its not hard to see why he is targeting them back.

IMO the right wing has moved far to the right while the left supports mainstream things like universal health care, cannabis legalization, and taxes on the wealthy which is what Musk is most worried about.
He is from apartheid South Africa, his company his accused of racism, and he complained about a woke mind virus which is a dog whistle. I dont blame anyone but Musk for supporting Republicans.
