My first run in with animal activists

We went up to the Santa Clara river to take a couple of wild pigs and had some hikers purposely disrupt our hunt, we tried to explain to them that wild pigs are not native and harmful to the environment along native wildlife and regardless interfering with legal hunting is against the law. They didn't listen and would up getting tickets from the BLM ranger and told they were no longer welcome there, now they face fines up to $1000 and up to a year in jail. I could understand them not listening to us but arguing with the ranger just caused more trouble for them, up to the point where they started yelling at him and telling him he doesn't know the law he just wanted them to leave. Just as an FYI hunter harassment is a crime in all 50 states.

"California’s feral pig population has become a monumental headache for government land managers, farmers, homeowners, conservation biologists and water district officials. But there is no clear way to ease the pain. Making it easier for hunters to kill pigs is a dubious proposition. Going after their food sources would cut a wide swath through California’s fauna and flora. Short of culling their numbers with a full-scale military operation, the porcine pests will continue to do damage.

Feral pigs are like roving rototillers, using their snouts and hooves to unearth dirt-dwelling insect larvae and eat acorns, invertebrates, eggs, small mammals and plants. Their feeding patterns not only cause enormous ecological damage, but the end product — their poop — poses an even further threat. These generously sized mammals — adults range from 150 to 500 pounds — are known to spread more than 30 infectious diseases, 20 of which can be transmitted to humans, including leptospirosis, toxoplasmosis and tularemia."

Their tactics often turned more people against them than won people over.

It does seem like these two weren't very educated on the subject though.

Are the same ones that try to glue themselves to basket courts during NBA games. Otherwise, they smash up science labs and release lab mice into the wild to die.

especially PETA, who seem to be their own worst enemy.

I donate to the ASPCA, they do excellent work, IMO.

you kill it humanely and consciously, maybe even ritually as some cultures do.

Factory farming and meat as a commodity are abominable. I don’t know enough about feral pigs as meat to have a clear opinion.
