General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI would like to send kudos to Nicolle Wallace for her determined and consistent coverage...
...of the attempted overthrow of our democracy.
More than anyone I know, she has covered this story from every angle and perspective. Her persistence and her willingness to put country over Party is very admirable.
We have seen the stress and the frustration in her determination to assure that the American people get the truth about the January 6th insurrection.
Although she has received some criticism for her continued support for Liz Cheney, I do not believe it is deserved. Liz Cheney has been one of the most important figures in this investigation thus far, perhaps the most important? She has shown tremendous courage. Her past and her family's past notwithstanding. That was then, this is now. We must fight the battle that is in front of us, not those behind us.
I, for one, appreciate the job that Nicolle Wallace has done, and is doing, in the very difficult job of taking on this humongous task of uncovering the largest scandal in this nation's history.

(12 posts)her coverage (and anger!) over these past years has helped sustain me . I also find myself feeling (weirdly) amazed when I agree with many of the former republicans she has on,like David Jolly, when it comes to the danger our democracy is facing.

(11,213 posts)comes from telling the public the truth, showing them evidence, over and over . . . and nothing comes of it. I wonder if Rachel Maddow had to cut back her show because of that.
I'm reminded of what the people at the Washington Post said when they decided to publish the Pentagon Papers. The story goes that their biggest worry was that they would take this chance and tell the truth but no one would care.

(4,815 posts)it would be hers. I could care less if she was once a Republican. She is all over this Jan. 6 story and she is not going to let it go. The only reason a Republican today would agree to an interview with her would be if they were hawking a new book. She was excellent with Esper. She also jumps all over anyone who even suggests that there is two sides to all the corruption going on today.

(2,957 posts)I record most all the daily MSNBC shows starting with Deadline White House and it's the first one I watch. As someone else said, "Wallace is an excellent journalist and even better moderator of discussion. She asks good questions and lets the guests speak fully. She listens."
The only sad part of her show is not enough of the right people watch it.

(255,525 posts)Similar to Steve Schmidt - and I saw him for the first time on her show when he gave the best anti-TFG rant that I'd ever heard. And I didn't like her at first, either, given her background, but Rachel Maddow had her on, said they were friends, so I gave her a second chance - and I now watch her show.

(94,261 posts)...but she can't say a word to me about our party.
I really can't stand most of the people she has on, because they really don't speak in the party's interest, and most often slant coverage against Democrats in Congress and the presidency. I don't have any use for a former republicans' pov on Democrats, and I don't trust her coverage of current politics.
It's like her buddy Schmidt. Nice man, eloquent, but he's not really an ally of Democrats. He's just working out his grudges with republicans, which is fine, but I sure don't trust republicans who I literally fought on the other side against becoming spokespeople for anything. Fun to watch them tear into their party, I guess, if I happen to come upon a segment.

(255,525 posts)But she does own that MSNBC 2-hour timeslot, and she does have good guests - today it was Adam Schiff. And I'd much rather watch her than Andrea Mitchell or Chuck Todd - I never watch them or post their videos no matter who they have on. And I agree that watching Steve Schmidt is fun...

They destroyed lives and livelihoods in their time, while advantaging wealthy republicans at the majority of working Americans' expense. They still hold republican beliefs and I won't compromise mine to listen to them beyond their attacks on the party they eagerly supported into power. This isn't new for me, and it's not ancient history either.
She's a Joe Scar, republican expat who constantly portrays Democrats as weak, and talks lovingly about the 'old' republican party which was trying to end me as a young adult living through it all.

But Nicolle Wallace has stuck with the story better than anyone else in the media, in my opinion. Was she wrong in doing that? Has she performed an important service to us all with her reporting? How important is the story of January 6th and the conspiracy to overthrow an election?
Who has done more to inform the public?

She got a lot of backlash, so I'm not suprised she backed off. She isn't a bad person, just views things through a republican perspective which I'm certain will continue to cloud her thinking. Honestly, who would support Ben Collin's take?

(13,985 posts)I MAILED(U. S. mail) a letter to Nicolle recently c/o MSNBC, could not find her contact info anywhere. Got no reply, which I did not expect, but I hope she read it. I truly wonder what she thinks about the questions I put to her.
Dear Nicolle,
I appreciate your excellent show and your insight on so many issues.
Your tributes to all the people dead from the virus are very moving, and I do not doubt your sincerity.
When you do these tributes it crosses my mind that our death total is now similar to the number of innocent Iraqis murdered by your former boss Dubya and his gang. Has that crossed your mind? Maybe its Gods revenge?
Donald Trump is certainly despicable, but did not deliberately lie the country into a war where we killed thousands of people for no reason and in the process left the Middle East a complete on-going disaster, plus resulted in so many dead/disabled US soldiers.
All conservatives spout their excuse that everybody thought Sadam had WMDs. Hard to believe when UN inspectors on the ground were not finding any WMDs, and Dubya got zero internationall support. What was your excuse?
Bush, Cheney, Rumsfeld, Powell, Condi, etc., should all be in prison for life. Do you still talk to these people? I am disgusted with the medias current attempts to rehabilitate these war criminals.
I dont remember your being a WH spokesperson then, and I cannot find anything online about your thoughts on the matter. Perhaps you could find time to address this on your show soon. I and probably other liberals who watch MSNBC would appreciate it.
Also, would you admit that the world would be better off if Al Gore had been President? He would have jumped on climate change from day one; there would have been no Iraq war; the poisonous Republican agenda would have been stoped for at least 4 years, maybe longer. Too bad a corrupt Republican- dominated Supreme Court decided to stop a legal election process and declare Bush the King.
I am 67, and ever since Reagan I have seen Republicans for what they truly are, rich white men who desire nothing but power and will do anything to get it so they can make the rest of us their slaves. They have never cared about the welfare of this country, it has all been lies. Once they started letting in the religious crazies and the gun nuts the result was inevitable, an insane cult that will now do their best to destroy democracy. When did this dawn on you? Do you agree with me or do you just think that if they can get rid of the crazies and restore the old conservative anti-government/anti-tax/trickle-down nonsense then you can call yourself a Repub again? Hearing you now, I dont know why you were ever one in the first place.
Respectfully Yours,
llashram
