opportunity. The guy is about the most un-democratic thing I've seen in recent history. It's clear he wants NOTHING to do with a democracy. Imagine him as president of the US.

New: in another win for Rs, FL appeals court lifts lower court injunction and reinstates DeSantis-backed 20R-8D gerrymander that would cost Dems an additional North FL seat. This case clearly headed for the FL Supreme Court.

It’s on. Then it’s off. Then it’s on. Then it’s off.

When congressional lines are changed it should be on the person changing the lines to prove they are in compliance. Especially since this isn’t even the governor’s job. The Florida legislature is supposed to do this but they are just a rubber stamp and just said “fuck it. Ron do whatever you want”.

IIRC from when I first read about the squabble between the Legislature and DeSantis on the maps, the Dems in the Legislature were okay with the first map because it preserved much what they had. Admittedly, my memory on this is fuzzy.

I'm thinking the Republicans in the Legislature wanted to avoid a public fight with DeSantis so they just went with his map.

The state leg here is heavily GOP, and they do whatever King Ron says to do.

near the bottom of the page where you can see the order from the appellate court putting the stay of the lower court's injunction back into place. That happened today.

Democrats had a really strong Dec-Feb in redistricting battles. But the last few months' string of legal losses/setbacks - in AL, MD, OH, WI, NY, KS and perhaps FL (we'll see) - has been staggering.
