(49,091 posts)If the deal falls through, and you thought the January, 2021 purge was thorough, just wait. I've seen many conservatives return in recent weeks. I think their return will be short-lived. HAHAHAHA! Maybe after round 2, Twitter ideology gets even more pure!

(15,394 posts)Twitter is a cesspool, and I do add to it, but on a totally immature level, this is going to piss off so many conservative "free speech purists" who was looking at him as some kind of savior. One guy I follow on YouTube out of morbid curiosity has even said that Musk was anointed by God to expose all the... whatever. He also prophesied that Trump would win, be reinstated in two weeks after January 20th, be reinstated before 2021 was up, and is still saying God told him he would be reinstated before next inauguration day. It will be fun to see what excuses he comes up with.

(12,494 posts)Musk can pay the billion dollar penalty for breaking the deal and continue the hostile takeover.
Even paying the Billion... getting TWTR at $44/share he'd save $6B
Occupy should have asked someone that had a clue.

(13,582 posts)On again off again public announcements be considered stock price manipulation? Could the SEC be forced to take an interest in this melodrama?

(12,494 posts)If that were the case... could ANY CEO or Billionaire really say anything?
The other day Musk posted a pic of the Austin Giga-Factory.
Was posting the picture stock manipulation?
Nah...

https://www.investopedia.com/ask/answers/042215/what-difference-between-hostile-takeover-and-friendly-takeover.asp#:~:text=In%20a%20hostile%20takeover%2C%20the,known%20as%20a%20tender%20offer.
In a hostile takeover, the target company's directors do not side with the acquiring company's directors. In such a case, the acquiring company can offer to pay target company shareholders for their shares in what is known as a tender offer. If enough shares are purchased, the acquiring company can then approve a merger or simply appoint its own directors and officers who run the target company as a subsidiary.
Hostile attempts to take over a company typically take place when a potential acquirer makes a tender offer, or direct offer, to the stockholders of the target company. This process happens over the opposition of the target companys management, and it usually leads to significant tension between the target companys management and that of the acquirer.

He puts together a group of shareholders to assemble 50%++ and it's done.

(19,204 posts)I seem to remember reading something about that.
Everyone gives him credit for "inventing the electric car" (wrong, wrong, wrong!) but he's only in control of Tesla because he bought an existing company.
If I'm wrong, someone correct me, please!

(601 posts)Ya gotta give him that... that and he is the only one ( I think) who is shuttling American Astronauts to the International Space Station, besides Russia maybe. Having said that, credit where credit is due, and all that... he's seems to be a total jerk. Your mileage may vary.
