All three South Florida counties have high COVID-19 community levels, despite the most recent data from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control showing the region having medium levels.
The difference between the levels is significant. The CDC recommends that people in areas with high community levels should wear masks indoors in public places and lists additional precautions for high-risk people.
The change is revealed in a footnote to the data released on Thursday, which says that a data processing error left Floridas per capita case rate blank in every county. The rate is one of several factors including hospitalizations and testing positivity used to calculate community transmission levels..
Of note, Broward, Miami-Dade, Palm Beach Counties should have appeared in the high CCL category, and Osceola County should have appeared in the medium CCL category, the CDC footnote reads.

With DeSantis in charge who knows what the accurate stats are.

(52,723 posts)My relative from Miami, who is usually cautious about these things, got Covid this week along with her husband. Probably didn't see the harm in going out because the State didn't send out any warnings.

(10,386 posts)From Miami, through Ft Lauderdale up to Palm Beach has been been a nightmare since Spring Break. Even my dear hubby who works from home, wears a mask and was vaxxed got covid. We are in bluer than blue Broward County and lots of folks still wear masks - but not the visitors from out of state who come to DeSatan's "Freedom State" to party.
