The smart folks are realizing that cooperating with the Jan/6 Committee is their best chance of survival.
They've finally come to the conclusion that the Jan/6 Committee has irrefutable evidence of their participation in trying to overthrow the US gov't, along with our democracy.
They're now willing to throw their "pResident" under the bus in order to save their own skins.
They're now aware that there will never be a re-elected "pResident Trump" who can pardon them for their crimes.
They now know that it's every man for himself, and that loyalty to Trump is a one-way street - and they're about to be left in a ditch on the losing side of a dead-end.
There's a road sign flashing up ahead: Last chance to save your own ass before the Jan/6 Committee nails it to the wall.
Number of people willing to go to prison in order to protect Trump? I'm betting on zero.
Of course, YMMV.

I don't doubt that SOMEONE would, because they're all self-centered assholes, but we have no proof anything on your wishlist has actually happened.

(27,814 posts)... by showing up.
When the Committee started calling for witnesses, Trump decreed that his inner-circle sycophants refuse to cooperate. That held for a while - but over the past few weeks/months, Ivanka, Jared, Don Jr., Guilfoyle, Giuliani and more have shown up to speak their piece.
These are people who know or suspect that the Committee already has incriminating evidence on them, and now need to get ahead of what's known and provable.
"Trump specifically told me not to be here - but here I am" pretty much says it all.

(5,842 posts)Look, I wish what you said was the truth but really, the absolute truth is that none of us knows any of that for a fact. We can only speculate. We are not present in those interviews. We have not read any of the transcripts of those interviews. Nothing from those interviews has even leaked to the public.
We will not find out if any of your wishlist is true unless those interviews are released, perhaps during the hearings. I hope you're right. But right now, since you have not been in the interviews as a witness, you do not know. Is that such a difficult concept?
To recap:
We have not been present for the interviews.
We have not read any interview transcripts.
None of the interviews has leaked to the public.
So this is speculation, not fact. Hopefully we'll find out they ARE throwing each other under the bus. I wouldn't put it past each one to do so in order to save his own ass.

I think NanceGreggs is on target.

Can't be learning new information if your ideology is wedded to believing in a social and political order that was challenged significantly and eventually pushed out of relevance in from the 1600's to the last vestiges in the 1900's.
Giuliani is crafty, but mostly mentally damaged at this point.

I do hope that the j6 committee members underwent preperations before inviting him into the room, as i feel that it would be hard to spend 9 hours with him and not have some sort of lasting negative side effects.

(15,220 posts)Im betting none go to prison. I believe they know the fix is in and they are arrogantly running out the clock. I honestly do hope that Im wrong. I want to see them in leg shackles.
Giuliani could very well have spent nine hours uttering I do not recall. We dont know. I believe that they all know that if they turn, they are as good as dead. They knew that when they first got in bed with Putin/Trump. The stakes really ARE that high in my view. Im surprised that Michael Cohen is still alive in all honesty.
I do hope the hearings will be well organized and have some actual attorneys doing the questioning. Ruskin is awesome. It needs to be efficient, clear and concise without any room for bullshitting.

We've been waiting for 500 people to "flip", and countless accusations of crimes to be prosecuted and they haven't pulled off a single one yet. We've been hearing this since the day that ass first took office.
They've been investigating this January 6th thing now for what, a year?
I don't know if the people who are doing this work are incompetent, or if Trump is really that good at covering his tracks, but if they had the evidence, I would think after a year of this some charges would have been announced by now.
I'm not falling for this baloney anymore. Trump is gone, and we need to forget his damned name. That is the worst punishment that anyone could ever apply to him.

Those talking will reveal the symptoms of the disease, only deeper investigation will find the cause of the disease.
The cause in this case of course, will be TFG.
Slowly, slowly, and with great precision, we will get there.
Patience!
