https://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2022/may/23/capitol-attack-panel-public-hearings-trump"The House select committee investigating the January 6 attack on the Capitol is expected to stage six public hearings in June...with the first and last in prime time, where its lawyers will run through how Trumps schemes took shape before the election and culminated with the Capitol attack.
The hearings are set to be a pivotal political moment for the country as the panel aims to publicly outline the potentially unlawful schemes that tried to keep the former president in office despite his defeat at the hands of Joe Biden.
A select committee member will lead each of the hearings,..but top investigative lawyers who are intimately familiar with the material will primarily conduct the questioning of witnesses to keep testimony tightly on track.
As the witnesses most of whom are being subpoenaed to appear at the hearings give evidence... the committee attorneys will simultaneously flash texts, photos and videos to illustrate the testimony, the sources said.
While the exact content and timings of the hearings are still subject to change, the sources said, the panel intends to lay out how the efforts to reverse Trumps defeat crystallized over a critical 65-day period from the time he falsely declared he won the 2020 election until 6 January."

(128,807 posts)PBS has ALWAYS carried stuff like this, and that included back during Watergate, where the audio feed was also broadcast on the radio via NPR (where I remember listening to the "boring" Watergate hearings on my transistor radio coming home from school on the train in the afternoons before school let out until fall)!

I guess that we are seeing how much the Republican owned U.S. Media values the attempted overthrow of the U.S. and Democracy!!

😁I would also like a guillotine as a prop in the court room 😁

(37,997 posts)On the day/hour of a hearing, go to YouTube, type Jan 6 Committee in the search box, after those results come up, click the "Filters" icon on the upper left, then click on "Live" and there should be several links to the vids from sources like WaPo, PBS, ABC, NBC and the Jan 6 Committee's own YouTube channel.

(20,656 posts)It should be a "We're doing this with or without you" thing, so that there is motivation to show up.

(43,123 posts)was they got some outside help in constructing the presentation. Nothing bores the public in this day and age like a bunch of rambling lawyers and politicians. Make the logic clear and direct.

(128,807 posts)where all 3 were involved in 2 House Impeachment hearings and 2 Senate Impeachment trials, then whatever "Lessons Learned" and recommendations for improvement from those presentations have been compiled, would probably be useful to implement for this.
And that last Impeachment was directly associated with January 6, so they actually have much of the initial "what happened" timeline already done and that could be repurposed as needed to fill in the gaps.
