(265 posts)We're both public employees as well. I'm pretty sure I could really get her into to trouble if I wanted to. The question is, do I really want to? I honestly don't care who she votes for. If Romney is her man, fine. I'm just puzzled as to why she would've sent me that email, especially considering that we're not even close.
I dunno....

(6,083 posts)I would guess that she sent the same email to many other co-workers as well. 1 email, maybe not so much of a big deal, but 10s or dozens of emails is quite another matter.

(15,623 posts)she has an e-mail address for. The problem is, she may not stop with this one e-mail - and even if she stops sending stuff to you, she may be harassing other people. Also, she's WAY out of line telling you to pray in any context.

(38,958 posts)If it was sent on the company network or in anyway used company equipment or time, then they may very well have a problem and frankly they should.

Say something along the lines of "I use this email for work purposes and do not wish to have political propaganda wasting my time. I have work to do."

(265 posts)I assuredly would've drawn the line there. However, under the current circumstances, I'm just bemused.

(9,610 posts)My co-workers typically never have my personal email account. Unless they are real
friends outside of work.

(265 posts)I'm a former web designer, and she wanted to see some of my work. I obviously should've sent her those links using one of my dummy yahoo accounts, but you know what they say about hindsight....

(49,232 posts)They worked fairly independently so much of our communication was done by email. That meant my organization periodically received the blanket emails that some volunteers would send out--jokes, heartwarming thoughts for the day, political forwards, etc.
Some time after the 2008 election I got an email from one of the volunteers saying something like I hope everybody who voted for Obama is happy with a rant about whatever issue she was ticked off about. I wanted to reply, "Why, yes I am, thank you for asking," but of course I just sent a professional "Please do not send any emails of this nature to me again."

(2,404 posts)I sort of look at a person's choice in voting like religion. Feel free to vote (pray) for whomever you wish, but do not impose your beliefs on me...I'm doing quite well without you.
It's a personal thing and should never be the topic of any email. Period.
