General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI started this morning by reading a disturbing post about breaking into abandoned buildings
Then I went on to read about a Pastor who called upon his flock to rise up in a violent insurrection, a woman running for office in Georgia who insists that her church should control the state, and to top it off, Henry Kissinger calling for a policy of appeasement for Putin's criminal actions.
That woman in Washington cutting through the chain link fence started looking quite restrained and reasonable. And I'd certainly prefer HER as one of my neighbors!

Sold at a loss. We never dreamed this would happen. The neighbors never spoke to us about it

(58,785 posts)unable to live alone must produce a huge supply of empty houses for the stealing, whether they intend to return or not.
We also currently know three women who are unable to live in their own homes while they're caring for relatives in their homes. I have no idea how often they're able to visit, but until they can return, or even if they never intend to, their homes are not available for the taking.

It still burns. Not everyone being squatted on is wealthy landlord

That leaves others who can't but are supposedly invited to squat in other people's unprotected property. And for the advocates, it is by definition OTHER people's, not their own. At least your mom wasn't there WHILE they vandalized and stole.

(51,308 posts)A group of people seemed to rotate through, leaving filth in their wake. God only knows what the inside of the house looked like, but they destroyed what had been a nicely kept lawn and landscape. They broke all the windows and at least one door.
Eventually the city stepped in, finding three dogs locked inside in the summer heat...no food no water.
I sure as hell don't want that in my neighborhood.

I've been a landlord, and I know what its like to lie awake at night IN A HOSPITAL worrying about a rental property. It sucks.
But if those other three examples are actually successful in influencing the course of this country, we are in SERIOUS shit.
