I had a bad premonition when I woke up this morning
That there was going to be a gut-punch news item today. Am I psychic?
No, it's just like that in America now. It used to be that "Gut-punch" events like today's happened every few years. Now we have to endure our collective grief every month, and sometimes every week. Why even bother to raise flags to full mast anymore?
