Another day, another mass murder! Like Coach Steve Kerr said enough of all this. My heart breaks for the victims and families.

(1,200 posts)"I am sick and tired of it. We have to act. And don't tell me we can't have an impact on this carnage," the President said, asking: Why do we keep letting this happen?"
"Where in Gods name is our backbone to have the courage to deal with and stand up to the lobbies? he said.

Yes, where is the country's backbone, Mr. President? god doesn't enter into this nightmare, btw. We are sick of the talk of the tragedy, the thoughts and prayers, etc.
Stop talking and DO SOMETHING! Change laws, change the damn constitution if need be. JUST DO SOMETHING. We can't take any more of the all talk no action plan anymore.
JUST FUCKING DO SOMETHING - WHATEVER IT TAKES - WHETHER ANY POLITICIAN LIKES IT OR NOT.
STOP WHINING ABOUT THE HORROR OF THESE SHOOTINGS, THE THOUGHTS AND PRAYERS AND DO SOMETHING NOW!

(50,562 posts)When we had the last PGR ban, the gun makers created a different buttstock for those rifles and kept on selling them.
Try this:
1. Any firearm based on a weapon found in any edition of "Jane's Infantry Weapons," unless the weapon was sold in the civilian market for at least five years before it was adopted by a military organization.
2. Any firearm not based on a military rifle, that has a removable ammunition magazine.
3. Any firearm that features a "Picatinny Rail" or similar attachment point for accessories.
4. Any firearm with a fixed magazine holding more than five rounds of ammunition.
5. Any firearm with a barrel bore greater than .470".
The reason for the exception in (1) is sniper rifles: many of the sniper rifles currently in use in the military are accurized elk hunting rifles.
(3) will not stop hunters from putting scopes on bolt-action rifles. Scope rings that attach to separated dovetails in the receiver are still a thing.
The intent of (5) is to abolish the Barrett .50-caliber rifles without stopping Alaskans from being able to get the elephant guns they hunt man-eating bears with up there.
