Republicans love guns more than kids, more than churchgoers, more than themselves.
Republicans tend to be pretty predictable. They may say they have principles, but those usually get tossed away in favor of selfishness. They oppose government subsidies, unless it's for them. They vote against disaster relief, unless the disaster happened to their homes. They want to build a border wall, unless it goes through their land. They oppose marriage equality, unless their own child turns out to be gay.
But with guns, it seems we've found something that beats even typical GOP selfishness. It doesn't surprise us that they don't care about kids being killed, or parishioners being killed, or concertgoers being killed. But they don't even care when they themselves are the targets.
Someone shot Ronald Reagan. And they still love guns.
Someone shot congressional Republicans at their own baseball practice, and they still love guns.
I don't think I'll ever understand this morbid fascination with the tools of violence and death. But Republicans will take it to their own graves, it seems.
