I know this would be controversial but I think we need to give people a visual to associate with this crisis.
We need to start showing the raw carnage and havoc because of the AR-15 and other assault rifles.
This is the only way we will get Republicans in the Senate to stop blocking reform.

Seeing the pictures of murdered children in US schools is the only thing that might work, it is much needed shock therapy. People must face the truth.

(37,141 posts)showing photos of these slaughtered children in texas would probably be a catalyst for change in this country; i think republican politicians and nra fans should see those pictures.
and if they are ever released i hope to god i never see them.
people have talked about the emmett till photo/s -- hartmann had a caller who brought this up today and he said the general media wouldn't print/show them. jet magazine was the only publication with the courage to run them.

Widespread reports of Russian soldiers raping women and children.
Americans needs to see the pictures of our murdered children. If the media won't print them go to social media, internet, buses, trains, subways, billboards.

(6,636 posts)We ignore it at everyones peril and it does a horrible disservice to the victims. We negate the horror and wrongness of their deaths.

There should be photographs.

(1,211 posts)In 1969 or '70, Hustler magazine featured what they termed "The Most Obscene Photos Ever Published" which showed Viet Namese citizens in bits and pieces. The images were grotesque. I can't know what effect these might have had in terms of changing minds about that "war".
I do know that the image of the Viet Namese child, her clothing burned off, running from her napalmed village is said to have effective influence on thought of war. The horror written on her face was difficult to watch.
Another powerful image depicted the instant of the death a suspected VC by the local cop. Point blank, pistol held to his temple. Did anyone care?
Earlier, much earlier, I remember seeing a Buddhist monk immolate himself in protest of the Diems (?) in the very early '60s.
In my darkest hours, however, I suspect that some of these evil whores (russian money, delivered through the NRA by Maria Buttina in bed) in congress would probably get off on such images.
There are days when I miss alcohol.

(3,478 posts)It cant be glossed over any longer, with now is not the time bullshit so that it fades from peoples minds quickly and they can get back to their agenda. We all know Rs dont give a shit unless it affects them - they arent trying to empathize with these parents. They need to be graphically shown with in-your-face gore, to see what these babies mangled and shredded bodies look like.
They have no qualms holding up graphic abortion photos, they need to be shown, no they need to ACKNOWLEDGE, the carnage an assault rifle does.

(6,636 posts)Tell me who these people are, what happened to them, how they ended up in a photo gallery. Don't just try to over whelm me with bloody photos. That is doing a disservice to everyone. These people deserve names and descriptions of their lives. They, and the children and teachers in Texas deserve our deep respect and horror, not ghoulish displays. That is not a game I'm willing to play. Those children deserve so much more.
