Uvalde, Texas mass shooter was inside school for 'roughly an hour' before being killed by authorities
A New York Times report published Wednesday afternoon outlines new details from Tuesday's mass shooting at Robb Elementary in Uvalde, Texas, including preliminary documents stating the shooter was inside the building for "roughly an hour" before being shot and killed by responding authorities.
"The gunman was inside the school for roughly one hour before a tactical unit from the border patrol shot him several times, killing him," the report states, citing documents described by a state police official.

(4,708 posts)Didn't the school have an armed guard? Doesn't that prove that this isn't going to cut it?
And furthermore, what are armed teachers going to do if a gunman holes up in a classroom with a bunch of children and a teacher? Even the SWAT team couldn't get in to this school quickly. . . . Do these ass hats really think an armed teacher is gonna go commando and do a Rambo shoot out without killing even more children and/or other innocent people?
Goddamn, I fucking hate these gun nuts.

I was an elementary school teacher for 15+ years and would NEVER carry a gun. I've never even seen a gun in my entire life.

(2,527 posts)Or did they forget about the last 2 decades of active shooter training? Responding officers are supposed to run in immediate and try to neutralize the threat. No waiting for backup or orders.

DPS Director Steve McGraw said twice that the cops were the ones who barricaded the shooter into a classroom.
That contradicts previous statements by other DPS spox, who said the gunman barricaded himself and immediately began shooting kids.

(77,287 posts)But, I heard on CNN that shots were fired before any cops arrived.
A border patrol guy was there first, but was fired upon.
Still an assumption, but I'm going with the psycho killed that classroom full of kids & got trapped in that room when cops arrived.
