The murders continue after the shooting stops

Today we heard the devastating news of Irma Garcia’s husband dying of a heart attack. A horrific reminder that the murders continue long after the bullets stop.

Jeremy Richman-died by suicide 7 years after his daughter Amelie was murdered at Sandy Hook.

Austin Eubanks, survived Columbine. Spiraled into addiction within 1 year of surviving that Massacre. He got clean, became a motivational speaker. He died of a heroin overdose in 2019.

Sydney Arielle- survived Parkland. Died by suicide in 2019

Calvin Desir- also survived Parkland. Died by suicide in 2019.

I am sure that there are many more like Mr Garcia,Austin, Sydney, and Calvin.
Deteriorating health, addiction, depression, suicide,PTSD, homelessness, a cycle of violence triggered by the events of the massacre.

It’s all so tragic.

1. Yes, that's the stochastic echo of violence.

Bad happenings can spoil the best of plans. The bigger the event the more so. Doesn't really matter if it's random violence or just a bad decision.

2. Yes there are many victims after the fact also for these tragic events

and for many tragic events that most of us never even hear about too.

3. And it's interesting to note that these same things happen

to many people who have been to war. We are literally at war with ourselves, and the war includes children as victims.

4. Add to that the horrific medical costs

the murderers are still responsible.

6. My brother died of a heart attack

18 months after his wife surprised a robber in their home and he savagely beat her to death with a golf club. The strain of the trial took its toll on him and he died in his sleep.

7. And guns killed them just as sure...

as the kids were killed by the gun's bullets. They're victims of gun violence as well.

8. America is a war zone.

We need a day of reflection, facts and redemption.

We could be better than this.

If we survive as a people and a country.

10. Those who are affected . . .

need our support.

Bereaved parents should be supported during their years of grief.

Those traumatised indirectly need support too.

Society allowed the shootings to happen, society owns those affected all the support they need.

But there is one debt society owes the bereaved and affected much more than anything else.

To make sure IT NEVER HAPPENS AGAIN!

Bulldoze the gun humpers and the NRA and the gun lobby and the gun makers into a deep, dark legal hole they cannot escape from!
