Not much, and it may take a bit.of time, but they can help some. some. If you have a good VA facility and the State also has a veteran's program (California has CALVET), they might have lists of reasonable/reduced cost funeral and estate assistance.
The local United Way may also have assistance programs or loan/grant programs to help out non-vets and low income households.
I don't know about GoFundMe, but there's plenty of people around who have experience.
