Police or occupying force

https://laurenhough.substack.com/p/police-or-occupying-force

I can’t stop thinking about the Uvalde cops, waiting for an hour in a hallway as little children called 911, begging for help while their friends were shot, covering themselves in their friends’ blood to play dead, believing someone would come. And for most of them, no one came. The cops surrounded the school, kept parents out, tazed parents for trying to get past them to save their kids.

I kept asking myself how. How the fuck as a human being do you not go in, not even try. I keep seeing their pictures, the cops, dressed for battle, carrying weapons of war, driving armored personnel carriers, like this was Fallujah. I wrote most of this into a twitter thread. But here it is.

Now the cops are scared, lying and lying again about what happened, begging for help from other law enforcement agencies to protect them from the community they failed.

Police are so militarized, just cosplaying stormtroopers, that they didn’t see those kids or their parents as humans they should protect but as potential criminals and now they’re just pissed anyone could question their inherent heroism. By all accounts, the police have terrorized that community and harassed those same parents and kids for years.

Kids died while they waited for an hour for an out of town SWAT force.

God, what did want to do, just let the killer run out of the hundreds of rounds of ammo he had?

Housecleaning is in order in the police department.

6. Yeah, once they arrived, the local yokels told them not to enter yet,

so they waited for 30 more minutes before they had enough and went in and took care of the POS.

Every local cop there, along with the Chief and upper echelon should be fired and, if warranted, charged with negligent homicide.

And they tried to stop them rather than to stop the shooter.
