Dangerous territory ahead. Blue States may eventually choose to defy a RW SCOTUS and/or nationalised

white wing/christofash laws. I fully support that potential defiance if the situation truly warrants it.

I cannot see States like California, NY, or MA, etc etc, going under the RW cosh, choosing to submit, and then outlawing all or almost all abortions, or outlawing contraceptives, or dismantling vast chunks of their gun control schemes.

And the minute Blue States start to defy, Red States may well defy laws THEY do not agree with.

The chaos vortex speeds up.

evidence we may well be headed in that direction:

California's under-21 gun sales ban is unconstitutional, court says

Not sure how they can say it’s all about states rights and then suddenly it isn’t!

etc etc.

Will we allow this to happen?

I agree, Americans may refuse to follow SC rulings.

CA and NY would be megatonne-strong powderkegs, waiting to blow, for instance.

That is a fucking joke. No originalism there. It took an amendment to make the voting age 18.

That is because at age 18, boys must by law, register for the Selective Service. Which also means able bodied males can be called up for service in the Armed Forces should there be a need for massive infusion of recruits needed for a large scaled war.

and voting rights.

The Supreme Court can do whatever a majority decide to do. They can interpret any text in the constitution any way they choose. The only constraint on the court is impeachment.

We’re talking about the minority forcing their views and laws on the majority. This cannot stand for long. Add to that how Trump and the Republicans have destroyed respect for long standing government institutions. I believe that within the next few years, America will become functionally ungovernable.
