Don't let this die.

If we do, children die with it.

1. It's always the same.

Republicans are simply not going to do anything about it. Not even the slightest, most delicate change. They pay no price for it because their voters donít care. And, unfortunately, the outrage over this is dying down already.

2. Ya' know, I understand it's the Republicans who block reform

but there's no reason we Dems have to be complicit by letting them and the great unwashed public forget.

I daresay if we maintained the intensity of the first three days for a whole month something would shake loose.

8. Nope, it's the ultimate circular firing squad.

It's going to keep happening again and again, and the conservatives' only solution is to throw more guns at it, and then trot out new security measures designed to make us all miserable because they're too chicken shit to stand up to the NRA and do the right thing. Instead, they take that "shall not be infringed!!!!" bullshit way too literally. Lather, rinse, repeat.

4. The massacre of school children is becoming routine. The outrage, after the initial shock, dims

quickly; after all, it is like and act of God, there is noting we can do about it. And, lets face it, it is usually someone else's children.
The people who block any attempts at rational gun reform play the odds. Compassion is not a trait commonly ascribed to Republicans.

I wonder what would happen with gun reform if a shooter got into a joint session of Congress and worked his or her magic?

6. Until Sandy Hook, some of us in CT could say "Oh, that can't happen here!"

Thank god our Senator Chris Murphy has been a leader in the Senate in speaking out so forcefully on behalf of gun reform.

It "never happens here" until it DOES.

11. Quite the opposite. The discussion in GD always helps me better understand what we can do to...

..reduce gun violence. I'm clearly not pro-gun ban as some are, but there are some good ideas that could help.

12. I'm sorry but such words carry little meaning.

We know how to reduce gun violence. I've posted it more times than I have fingers and toes.

The only answer I've heard is more guns. A call to compromise on the few gun regulations we have. A compromise by definition is to give to the opposition something to get something. Well there are 120 guns for every 100 people so does a compromise include reducing the number of guns? Nope. How about making it harder to buy guns? Nope, too much of an inconenience to "law abiding citizens'. What is the gun culture as represented by the NRA and Ted Cruz willing to give?

Not a fucking thing.

13. Well its true that we dont agree on gun bans or making shooting prohibitively expensive.

But Ive come around on Universal
background checks, raising the age of possession to 25, and even using an NFA-like mechanism on some so-called assault rifle if done correctly.

Im not an antigun zealot, but there things that can be done.
