Lawyer: Uvalde teacher did not leave door open that gunman used to enter school

“She kicked the rock away when she went back in. She remembers pulling the door closed while telling 911 that he was shooting. She thought the door would lock because that door is always supposed to be locked.”

Messages were left Tuesday seeking comment from the Texas Department of Public Safety.
A law enforcement source familiar with the investigation said surveillance video and audio verifies the teacher removed the rock holding the door open and closed it.

“She slammed it shut,” said the source, who requested anonymity because the source does not have authority to speak with the media.

Both Flanary and the source said a person exiting through the door might not be able to tell if it was locked.

The source said investigators are trying to determine if the door was unlocked earlier or if its lock was not working because the gunman used the same door to get into the school, go down the hallways and into adjacent rooms 111 and 112. The rooms were full of fourth-graders, where he took advantage of a delayed police response and shot and killed his victims.

incomplete info if that's the case.

I was under the impression, from everything I've read and listened to so far, once the shooter got through the fence onto school grounds, he was able to get to the classroom. I was unaware that he had to to through a door into the school and then from that point, into the classroom. I was under the impression that the classroom doors led to exterior corridors or hallways, which would be vulnerable to anyone once they get past the school's fence.

When I first read about the door being kept open with a rock, I thought they were talking about the actual classroom door and not an entrance to the school.

At this point I don't really give a flying fuck over some damned rock that may or may not have been propping a door open.

All that really matters is that a young punk was able to legally purchase military weapons which were used to murder innocent children, and the fact that this has happened far far too many times over the years and absolutely NOTHING is being done about it because the GQP is beholden to gun manufacturers.

A mother who was handcuffed outside the Texas school shooting later ran into the school and pulled her two children to safety: report

A Texas mother of two students at Robb Elementary School pushed past a police line and jumped a fence, rescuing her two children during Tuesday's mass shooting in Uvalde, according to The Wall Street Journal.

Angeli Rose Gomez, a farm supervisor working nearby who has children in second and third grade at Robb, told the Journal that she drove 40 miles to the school when she heard about the shooting, only to see an apparent lack of response from law enforcement as the gunman barricaded himself in a classroom.

(snip)

According to The Journal, Gomez was put in handcuffs by federal marshals for "intervening in an active crime scene," as she and other parents demanded officers enter the school. Gomez persuaded Uvalde law enforcement officers to release her, and she moved away from the crowd.

Gomez then hopped the school fence, sprinted inside the school to grab her children and made it out of the school with them alive.

How did he know that door was unlocked? It appears that he did.

That teacher didn't know that the door was unlocked. I didn't say everybody knew, just some did.

I said she used the same door that the killer had used to get in. That is conjecture on my part. We will eventually find out if I'm right about that.

Over time I have often worked with Texas public primary schools and they were the first state to harden doorways and make entrance to outsiders very difficult. I know some of these people well and even they wouldn't let me in without handing in my DL and them buzzing me in.

It is not unusual to prop a door for a moment, but to leave it propped open isn't likely to happen. Cameras and speakers at every entrance. Teachers are necessarily careful about such things and visitors are rarely trusted with such responsibilities. Abbott and the Texas DPS have been feeding us false narrative throughout and this is another crack in the wall.

46. Uvalde Teacher's Lawyer Contradicts Police Over Key Piece Of Evidence in Robb Elementary Massacre

The attempt to blame the teacher is bullshit

https://hillreporter.com/uvalde-teachers-lawyer-contradicts-police-over-key-piece-of-evidence-in-robb-elementary-massacre-132653

News reports have been citing as fact the Uvalde Police claims that the teenage shooter entered the classroom at Robb Elementary School through a door that was left propped open by a school teacher.

But according to the San Antonio Express-News, the teacher’s lawyer says she closed the door shut after she was informed an active shooter was on the loose.

The teenager killed 19 children and two teachers with an assault weapon he was able to obtain legally and easily as soon as he turned 18. He was also apparently allowed to pay off the AR-15 he used on a payment plan. The teacher, who remains unidentified, called 911 to report an accident near the school involving a black truck, which later turned out to belong to the gunman, who had also shot his grandmother, said the teacher’s lawyer, Don Flanary. He added that the teacher propped open the door around the time the gunman crashed his truck, and that the teacher also called 911, but said he wants to make clear that the door was not left propped open and the teacher is not to blame for the shooter’s access to the building.

“She saw the wreck,” Flanary said. “She ran back inside to get her phone to report the accident. She came back out while on the phone with 911. The men at the funeral home yelled, ‘He has a gun!’ She saw him jump the fence, and he had a gun so she ran back inside. She kicked the rock away when she went back in. She remembers pulling the door closed while telling 911 that he was shooting. She thought the door would lock because that door is always supposed to be locked.” Security video confirms the teacher removed the rock holding the door open and closed it.
