When two-thirds of all Americans are personally acquainted with a family that has lost a child to gun violence. In other words, when it no longer has to appear on the the news for people to be aware of it. When it happens in everyone's own back yard, and everyone is personally aware of the devastation guns cause. It's a tragedy, but I'm very much afraid that this is what it will take to get people to wake the fuck up.

I don't think anything happened other than probably putting more security details on Congress critters.
I really don't know what it will take to get meaningful gun safety laws.

(8,958 posts)my daughters' place of business was nearby and her store went into lockdown..lights out, hiding in the bathroom, my daughter called me sobbing "take care of my kids, Mom"......May 5, 2022 my granddaughter, an Emory University law student, was locked in a closet, terrified, on the phone with my daughter talking her through the two hour lockdown..two teens brought guns to their high school, one was caught the other ran onto the Emory University campus
